So it’s been about a month since we moved into our new house. The boxes have been unpacked and now I’m left with the task of adding all of those little finishing touches. I’m not going to lie, full decoration of this house is going to take me for-ev-a. But, I wanted to share just a little bit of what is somewhat finished; our white kitchen!
You probably remember I went back and forth on my kitchen being gray or white. I was afraid of gray being too trendy and I was afraid of white being too difficult to keep clean. I played it safe and went with the white blank canvas. Is it easy to keep clean? That depends on how much you like to clean. Personally, I’ve always wiped my kitchen down every single day, now I just include the cabinets in that whole five minute wipe down process, so it’s no big deal.
One of my favorite things in our whole house is our farmhouse table. It was built by a friend of ours and we finished it ourselves, so it was a labor of love! I’ve told my boys the white chairs are special occasion chairs that no one sits in, haha, well see how long they last!
A couple of months ago we made a trip up to Ikea, which is a little drive for us. We purchased their Vivan drapes for every window in our house, because they’re cheap and quite beautiful! We were able to get all of the curtains, hardware included, for every window in the house for just a few hundred dollars. Curtains can be really expensive, so I’m pretty pleased with that purchase! We also picked up the Ektorp couches, which so far I love because the covers can be washed. I’ve already washed them twice and they come out beautiful and white again!
This chalkboard is literally the only thing I’ve hung on my walls so far, besides curtains. Don’t judge my chalkboard writing skills, I plan to get better at that.
For now it’s simple and so fresh and so clean clean. Over time I’ll add more to it, but for now I’ll enjoy my blank canvas and the possibilities!
