Warmer temperatures and shorter hemlines are upon us, which probably has you hitting the gym more often! A great workout can put you on cloud nine and feeling your best. And don’t you just love that post-workout glow? Here’s how to keep that glow going all day.
Start with exercise
Exercise is, of course, the first step in reaching that post-workout glow, but what is it about working out that makes you feel so darned fabulous? Endorphins! Any type of exercise releases hormones that numb the pain you experience from working your muscles. Endorphins give you a feeling of euphoria and a natural high long after your workout!
If you’re looking to up the glow factor, you can trade in your traditional moderate-intensity, steady-state cardio for high-intensity interval training (HIIT), which is made up of short intervals of intensive exercise followed by a short period of lighter activity as a break. HIIT trainings also cause your body to produce excess oxygen to restore your body to its normal resting level. So you’re burning more calories post-workout, and you have a nice little glow through the day from your body working overtime!
Keep in mind, because of the intensity and the longer recovery period, HIIT workouts should not be done every day. Take a day or so off by doing a walk or a little yoga instead.
Now that you’re glowing, moisturize
Keep your healthy glow going by using products that promote soft, smooth and radiant skin in your post-workout shower. We love to #ShowerAwayDrySkin with Dove Dry Oil Moisture Body Wash and Dove Dry Oil Beauty Bar for not only the invigorating scent but the soft, smooth skin we are left with after only one shower!
The new Dove Dry Oil range of products has a blend of Moroccan Argan Oil and gentle cleansers that wash your skin without stripping its protective layer. The same way you protect yourself on the inside with a great workout, you should take care of yourself on the outside with nourishing products.
You are what you eat (and drink)
What you eat and drink plays a big part in the appearance of skin. If what you are consuming is heavily processed, greasy, high in sugar and lacking in essential nutrients, that is likely to show on your face.
