Truth be told, finding the right pair of shorts can be a struggle. Finding the right pair of pants is hard too, but shorts come with their own struggles. Some ride up, some loosen up when you’re sweating to death in the summer heat, some are too short, some too long and on and on. In the past, I always opted for dresses or skirts because they were more comfortable than a pair of shorts for me. But, two kids later, those skirts started making for some lovely wardrobe malfunctions and shorts have become a necessity.
So, in case you face the same struggles when it comes to shorts season, Erica and I have come up with a list of some our favorites to add to your wardrobe!
1. J. Crew 5″ Chino Short – These pair are Erica’s pick! She is tall and needs the extra length in the inseam, but said she loves the fit of these shorts. They are comfortable and true to size!
2. J. Crew Factory 4″ Scallop Hem Short – I ordered this pair from J. Crew Factory recently and love them! They were affordable, coming from the factory, but still so cute! I will say, the fabric is very light and after reading the reviews, I avoided the white pair. The navy pair isn’t see through because of the dark fabric. These fit true to size and being on the small size like I am, I appreciated the 00!
3. J. Crew Factory 3″ Chino Short – I also ordered this pair of shorts recently from J. Crew Factory in two colors! These shorts are affordable like the other pair of factory shorts and they come in so many beautiful colors! I am pretty short, so I appreciate the shorter inseam on these. The fit is a little on the small size, so I would recommend sizing up in this pair. Also, the fabric on these shorts is a little sheer, I ordered a neon pink pair and they were slightly see through, however the green pair was not see through at all.
4. LOFT Relaxed Skinny Denim Short – These denim shorts are the shorts I grab when I’m headed out to play with my boys. The longer length keeps me modest and comfortable and they aren’t super tight in the thighs! Erica loves a pair that is similar, that she picked up from Old Navy recently. She noted that her pair ran a little large, so she sized down.
5. LOFT Riviera Short – I love LOFT’s Riviera shorts for so many reasons; they have a great fit, come in several colors, fabrics and patterns and come in many sizes and inseams. I can grab these in petite and they fit perfect! I grabbed this pair recently and love that I can dress them up or down!
