It’s November, which to me means, the official start of the holiday season! Be prepared for lots of holiday themed posts from us, this one being the first!
Last Christmas Eve, we were running from house to house, visiting family and friends, when I realized I was completely out of baby wipes in the car and my toddler had dumped an entire box of chocolate milk all over his car seat. What mom doesn’t keep a full stock of wipes, diapers and a change of clothes? Me. Truth is, I forget diapers and wipes, all. the. time. We were eventually late to dinner due to our stop at CVS for a last-minute pack of wipes and a quick change of clothes, but can I just say for being open on Christmas Eve, it was seriously #CVSHuggiesHeroes that night!
So, knowing this holiday season is going to busy, between shopping, cooking and traveling, I’m trying to be better prepared. Instead of relying solely on my diaper bag, which at times isn’t adequately packed, I’m making a car kit as a back up!
Contents
- Huggies Clutch ‘n Clean Wipes – lots of wipes
- Diapers
- Change of clothes for each kid
- New toy distractions
I grabbed a cute tote and went to work. This particular tote didn’t come with dividers, so I just added a heavy-duty organizer to keep my items separate.
I dropped by CVS and picked up their last two packs of Huggies Clutch ‘n Clean Wipes for my kit.
The Huggies Clutch ‘n Clean Wipes have been a favorite of mine since my baby shower, when I was gifted a pack. The clutches are so cute, dermatologically tested, easy to carry around and are refillable. I like to grab them with a few diapers and toss them into the bottom of the stroller when we head out in lieu of the whole diaper bag. I actually already have one I keep in the car now (obviously not last year during the chocolate milk fiasco) but I figured for my emergency kit, it was good to have a couple more packs on hand! Not only are they great for kid messes, I also use the wipes to clean up spots in the car and wipe my dash when it gets dusty.
Next, a change of clothes. Kids always need a change of clothes for those unexpected accidents. From oops, I didn’t make it to the potty, to my car seat was thirsty for some chocolate milk, we should be prepared. I chose to add a pair of PJs for each of the boys as well, since we’re going to be visiting a lot of family this year, if our visits run late they will already be dressed for bed once they hit the car. If I had a bigger tote or maybe didn’t need the space for diapers, I would include a roll of paper towels and a few plastic bags, because kids are messy!
I also added a few small, new to my boys, toys and books. If you’ve ever done a lot of shopping or traveling with a small child, this will make sense to you. Sometimes they just need something new to distract them and if the toy is totally new to them, the time it will distract them is even greater!
Ta-da! Step one to an organized holiday season. Now, to get busy with my holiday shopping…
Share your tips for staying prepared with little kids. I would love to hear about a time that Huggies was your hero!

Brilliant with the organizer inside the tote! Looks like you have everything you need for quick trips and errand runs!!! Have a brilliant and beautiful day!!! π
I don’t have any kids yet but most of my friends do, I’m going to have to send them this I’m pretty sure they will definitely start doing this too.

This is such a good idea! I was always running out of something I needed when my daughter was younger. I might do this for a shower gift!

Great idea, it’s stressing when you forget something especially wipes!! I never knew how much I would use life saving wipes until having my littles, ha;-)

Super cute idea and adorable patterned tote! I did something very similar when my boys were young and it was a lifesaver time and time again.
What a great idea! There have been a few times where I have forgotten our diaper bag and wish I had a back up! I need to make these for our cars!
An emergency kit like that is something I remember aspiring to when my girls were younger but somehow never got around to it. Great idea.
First of all that actual kit is too cute. What a fresh, clean and pretty-looking one inside, also. I want to make a similar one, now.
P.S. I will e-mail you later today. Sorry I have been real busy.
Adorable & you’ll be forced to be organized – great one!

I hate when that happens, and when there happen to be no wipes, especially with runny noses or spills. I love these Huggies wipes carry bags (we have one). Gorgeous photos!

how have I never thought of this?!?!?!?!? I ALWAYS forget something. In August, we were at a wedding ALL day/night. I forgot wipes and Oliver had the biggest blowout of life. Thank goodness I remembered a change of clothes and the bathroom had papertowel lol.
I’m so making a car kit!

Great to have a car pack for just in case. I can’t tell you how many times i forgotten things when my son was young. The only thing is wipes don’t do well sitting in the car.

Hope to see your Thursday for TBT Fashion link up.
This is such a smart idea, and one I need to do, uh, yesterday. I’m pretty good about remembering a diaper bag, but terrible about checking my baby wipes stock–having this stash in the car would be a lifesaver!
Great idea! I’m just happy these years are over for me and I now have a clean car. π
I miss my clean car!! It is currently covered in French fries, haha.
I’m bad about just leaving my diaper bag in the car and not noticing that it has completely run out of diapers and wipes!!
That’s good to know Alice! I hadn’t experienced any trouble with wipes in the car yet, but I’ll keep an eye on them. I’m glad I’m not alone in forgetting things, lol, I always feel like a bad mom!
Thank you Mary!!
I am asking myself all of the time how I can forget! I’m glad I’m not alone and hoping this will help me, if I can keep it stocked! lol
Thanks Danielle!
Yes!! We were on a field trip the other week and my littlest had a terrible runny nose…leave it to me to not bring along the wipes!
I’m hoping it will be a cute little reminder to keep me organized!
Thanks so much Ada! and no worries, I know how busy it gets with little ones!!
Thanks Cynthia! I’m hoping I’ll keep up with is, always those good intentions.
I’m glad I’m not alone in forgetting my diaper bag! My sister-in-law is always prepared, when we hang out I’m always borrowing things from her and feeling subordinate, lol. So, I’m aspiring to be a little more like her!
Thanks Jennie! I’m so glad I finally got around to doing it!
Thanks so much Carrie!
Isn’t that the truth, the wipes are so necessary!
Great idea Jill!!

Great idea! I’ve been haling extra diapers and wipes with me all the time. It’s a little harder in winter when the temps here drop below zero and wipes freeze. They need to come up with some technology to not let wipes freeze lol

Me too!! I think they are all so cute.
Thanks so much Jenessa!
They do! I haven’t had any trouble with mine freezing, but it rarely gets that cold around here! You’re so smart to always have extras on hand!
Thanks Anna!
Thanks Carrie!
So true, thanks so much Esther.
Aw thanks Lana!
Wipes are a must!! Even though my kids are 10,9,and 3 I always have wipes in the car. They come in handy all the time traveling between after school activities! Great post!

Great idea!! I have a similar bin in my car, but it’s just stuff I might need bc I don’t have kids! I’m such a weirdo. My bin has to-go tissues, a paper towel roll, an extra set of gloves, an ice scraper, and wet ones. Some of it comes in handy! I feel like if I were a Mom, I’d forget everything all the time. Your head must be in a million places at once!
