The season of food, shopping and family is upon us; my favorite time of the year! My Thanksgiving is typically celebrated with a day full of family and good food and capped off with an all night shopping spree with my friends. Say what you want, but standing in lines and downing a few too many coffees every Black Friday is a tradition of ours.
To say I’m excited is an understatement. Aside from testing recipes and planning shopping routes, I’ve been gearing up for Thanksgiving, by making plans for what I’m going to wear, head to toe, including my makeup! Girls gotta plan ya’ know.
I was in CVS the other week fighting with my four-year-old over a candy purchase and looking for a few new things to add to my beauty collection for a Thanksgiving look. I don’t venture out of my beauty box often, but when I do, I try to keep it affordable in case it’s a total fail. Milani Cosmetics was on the end cap, all gold, shiny and affordable. So, I grabbed the Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow in Bella Champagne and Bella Mandarine, Fierce Foil Eyeliner in Black Gold Foil, Eyeshadow Primer, Stay Put Brow in Medium Brown, Color Statement Lipstick in Blushing Beauty and the Supreme Kohl Kajal eye pencil in black. Let me tell you, all of the products combined came out to around $30.00, so that was a plus!
Whenever I buy a new beauty product, I must try it out, immediately. So I went home and started brainstorming my Thanksgiving look. I came up with this; it’s simple and neutral but still a little pumped up for the holiday. What do you think?
I started out with the Eyeshadow Primer, which provided a great base for my shadow and liners and really increased the staying power of my eye makeup.
Then I filled in my brows with the Stay Put Brow gel in Medium Brown. I then swept a little of the Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow on my lid and in the corner of my eye.
Then I finished up by lining my upper lid with Supreme Kohl Kajal eye pencil & Fierce Foil Eyeliner in Black Gold Foil.
The final touch; Color Statement Lipstick in Blushing Beauty that went on smooth, smells like caramel and has major lasting power! I would compare it to some of the pricier brands I own. If you ask me, a little color on the lips can really make your eyes pop and finish off the look!
The day that I wore this look, my makeup lasted throughout the day without a touch-up, so I’m excited to recreate it on Thanksgiving. It will be sure to last through the entire marathon of eating and shopping! Overall, I really liked each of the products I tried and would compare their quality to that of some of the pricier brands I own. At their price point, I would definitely buy each of them again!
Now, the question I’m always asking myself, what am I going to wear…
Something with a lot of give is a must for me. On Thanksgiving I am a not-so-lean, mean, eating machine…so something to hide the inevitable food baby is best. I’m not ashamed of the amount of pie and mashed potatoes I’m going to eat, not one bit.
But the shoes, flats or boots, flats or boots? I’m leaning towards the flats, they’re kinder to my feet.
What do you think ladies, am I Thanksgiving Ready?
