The best conversations, happen on the front porch. I was born and raised in the country, but I wouldn’t consider myself a ‘country girl’. I like to think of myself as more of a wanna be southern belle, with a taste for pretty things and a little gossip. I grew up spending hours just swinging on my parents front porch swing. Doing nothing but swinging. When my husband and I bought our first home, I really wanted a swing, but our porch wasn’t quite right for it, so, one of the first things we purchased, were two white rocking chairs to sit on the front porch. If I can’t swing, I’ll rock. Over the years, I have rocked away in one those chairs, gossiping with my girlfriends, watching my boys play and sometimes even, eating dinner. Sure, there is the back deck (or lack there of in our new house), but the front porch is a conversation place. It’s inviting, you can wave to your neighbors or just sit there and be extra nosy. I’m nosy, I’ll admit it.
When I spotted this floral top at Francesca’s, it gave me visions of front porch sitting. It has a pretty little floral print, crochet trim and it swings and floats like a warm summer breeze. I could just taste the sweet tea (sweetened with stevia of course ;)). So of course, it had to be mine. Along with this bag from Nordstrom, that is big enough to carry everything but the kitchen sink and these shoes that are a comfortable replacement for my sky high killers. It was a good shopping day, I tell ya.
So, if you’re looking for me this summer, you’ll probably find me on my front porch, wearing something floral and rocking away.
