A resounding theme of your kimono outfits requests was – “I can only think of like two ways to wear a kimono, help!”
Kimonos are a little tricky for a petite gal, you have to first find the right one that isn’t overwhelming and too long. I have three I’m sharing in this post, two of which are no longer available, which stinks – but the one that is available comes in several prints that could easily recreate any of these outfits. Plus, they have a great fit!
I like to think of a kimono as just another fun topper. When I first started wearing one, I often thought of boho vibe outfits only, but the more I started to throw it on top of other outfits, I liked how it looked! So, if you ask me, you can wear a kimono with just about anything, from a romper, denim shorts, t-shirt dress and even to a dressier dress.
With Paperbag Shorts
I didn’t really like these shorts until I put this outfit together. The kimono is the finishing piece it needed!

With a Romper
I’m wearing a kimono here with a very casual (and very comfortable) romper, but it would also look great with a dressier romper. A romper is already an instant outfit and a kimono just adds to that easy outfit!

With a Linen Dress
This linen dress from LOFT is beautiful! In the reviews it notes it’s thin, but that’s because it is linen. I personally wear a nude sip with it and it works. The dress is beautiful on its own, but a kimono makes for a great topper to mix it up.

With Like Colors
You may remember this dress from this style session. The exact one has since sold out, but I’m linking similar styles for you. Pulling out a color from the kimono to wear underneath always looks great!

With Denim Shorts
The most common way I see a kimono worn is just like this – denim shorts, cute tank top underneath. It’s a common one because it’s a great one! I knotted my tank top here, but you can also tuck it in. Originally seen in this style session.

With a T-Shirt Dress
This little dress continues to be a top seller and comes in an out of stock in petite xxs (the size I’m wearing). It looks great with a kimono on top. You saw this dress styled multiple ways here.

With Sneakers
A kimono looks great with sandals and heels, but it’s also cute with sneakers! You saw this originally styled here.

A kimono also makes a great bathing suit cover up of course! There really is a lot you can do with one, and I hope this post helps you get more out of the kimonos in your closet.

Love this! Where did you get the wedge, open toe, espadrilles?
Thank you Arielle! They’re from Nordstrom, last year, unfortunately this exact pair is sold out, but I’ve been looking for similar options to share. I’ll be sure to share if I do!
Thank you!
Me too Shelbee! They’re a great topper! Sorry I’m just getting around to your comment – running crazy over here. 😀
