My Measurements & Proportions
It’s important to point out that we can be the same or similar in height but have different proportions. So, for comparison purposes, here are my measurements: I’m 4’10” and my waist and hip measurements are 24″ and 36″. I have a 25″ inseam to my ankle bone and often choose 27-28″ inseams for full-length styles. My true size is 00/24/xxs. I’m overall proportionate, meaning I don’t have a long torso or legs for my height. By my measurements, I’m pear-shaped.

|How Different Madewell Denim Styles Fit my 4’10” Frame
Although I chose just three brands to review this time around, I love so many other brands as well, with J.Crew and J.Crew Factory coming to mind as a favorite of mine. For my recent complete denim guide with a listing of all of the petite-friendly denim brands I’ve tried, check out this post.
Madewell Jeans
Madewell will always have a spot in my heart as the first brand I found a pair of jeans from that fit me right from the store. Aside from their petite offering, their denim is excellent. The jeans are high-quality and long-lasting, with stretchy denim that holds you in without being uncomfortable or restrictive. The back pockets are always well designed – meaning you’ll look great from behind. I’ve been wearing their jeans for years, and while I like some of their styles more than others, I can always seem to find a pair to love.
The Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Crop Jean

The Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Jean comes in both a cropped style and a full-length style. I initially chose the cropped style in the standard length because the light green (Dusty Celadon) wasn’t available in petite, and the measurements looked promising. Once I tried them on, I found they are a perfect full-length in standard sizing, and I prefer the rise of standard over petite. The jeans have that oh-so-comfortable Madewell stretch denim and are incredibly comfortable! They’re true to size, I’m wearing them in 24.

The Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Jeans
- Size Wearing: 24 Petite Length in Enmore Wash
- Inseam: 27 1/2″
- Rise: 9 3/4″
- Lengths Offered: Standard, Petite, Tall, Plus
The Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Jeans are a full-length style, so I opted for petite sizing. They’re true to size, and I wear them in petite 24. They have the same comfortable stretch denim as the cropped style above. The length is excellent on this pair, and I know many of you will love the 9 3/4″ rise!

The Longline Straight
- Size Wearing: 24 Petite Length in Greendale Wash – I recommend sizing up, 25 petite would be a better fit for me
- Inseam: 27″
- Rise: 10 1/4″
- Lengths Offered: Standard, Petite, Tall
I found a new straight style to love with The Longline Straight Jeans. They have a modern, sleek, straight leg and rigid denim that holds you in. I love these jeans, but I need a size up for a comfortable fit. The low-stretch denim is snug across my hips and thighs. Otherwise, they’re great and a perfect length for petites!
