When it comes to winter boots, everyone is looking for something a little different. In today’s post, I’m sharing six winter boots that cover every need—casual everyday styles, waterproof pairs for wet weather, and cozy, snow-ready options for true cold-weather days. I’m also including styling ideas for each boot and sharing what I like to wear with them. And if you have a smaller foot, great news: each of these boots starts at a size 5, making them an excellent petite-friendly option.

Six Winter Boots for 2025: Casual, Cozy, Waterproof & Snow-Ready Picks

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

J.Crew Stevie Boots: Kitten Heel + Pointed Toe

For everyday wear, the J.Crew Stevie Boots are one of my go-to pairs. They feature a low kitten heel, a slim sleek shaft, and a pointed toe that adds subtle visual length to any outfit. The shaft slips easily under trending denim styles, making them a great pairing for straight-leg, flare, and wide-leg jeans. They come in both suede and black leather—perfect if you want an option that also works with office outfits. I find them true to size, comfortable, and well-proportioned for petites.

If you’re looking for similar everyday boots, look for three key details: a slim tall shaft, a pointed toe, and a kitten heel. This silhouette creates clean lines and flattering proportions on a petite frame.

Madewell Dimes Boots: Kitten Heel + Elongated Square Toe

The Madewell Dimes Boots are very similar in fit and style to the Stevie Boots, but with a few distinct details. They offer the same low kitten heel and streamlined shape, but the toe is an elongated square rather than pointed. The Dimes Boots are a pull-on style, while the Stevie Boots have a side zipper.

They’re comfortable, true to size, and available in both leather and suede. Like the Stevies, they’re incredibly versatile—you can wear them with jeans, trousers, and workwear, making them another excellent everyday option for petites.

Dolce Vita Faint H2O Boots: A Waterproof Option with a Sleek Fit

If you need waterproof boots, the Dolce Vita Faint H2O Boots are a versatile and polished choice. They feature an elongated square toe and a chunky, walkable low heel—perfect for staying comfortable on wet winter days. The sleek silhouette works well with trending denim styles like wide-leg, flare, and straight-leg jeans, and they’re refined enough to pair with workwear too.

They come in chocolate suede and black leather, start at a size 5, and fit true to size. The only note is a brief break-in period near the toes—they felt a bit snug at first but eased up with wear.

Nordstrom Darian Water Resistant Chelsea Boots: A Classic Water-Resistant Chelsea Option

If you love a classic Chelsea boot, the Nordstrom Darian Boots are a great choice. They’re comfortable, walkable, and true to size, with sizes starting at a 5. The tall, slim shaft tucks cleanly under jeans, and the round toe with a chunky sole gives them a modern look.

Because of the round toe and heavier sole, I prefer styling these with straight-leg jeans that hit at the ankle or with leggings. They’re not as versatile as the Dolce Vita pair—when I tried them with wide-leg jeans, the combination felt a little too heavy and blocky overall.

Sorel Tivoli V Boots: Warm, Waterproof, and Snow-Ready

The Sorel Tivoli V Boots are my top pick for snow days—they perform incredibly well and still look stylish. They’re fully waterproof, warm, and come in beautiful colorways. I’m wearing the tan and tobacco option here, but the tan and black combination is another favorite.

When I wear snow boots, I typically pair them with fleece-lined leggings or a snowsuit since it only snows a few times a year where I live. If you’re in a colder climate and need snow boots for daily wear, these would also balance nicely with skinny jeans.

They fit true to size with enough room for thick socks and start at a size 5, making them a great petite-friendly winter boot.

UGG Mini Boots & Project Cloud Boots: A Cozy Winter Option That Feels Like Slippers

I’m fully embracing the UGG boot trend for as long as it lasts—they’re just too cozy to give up. I own the UGG Mini Boots, along with a more affordable alternative from Project Cloud on Amazon, and both are great options.

The UGG Mini Boots start at a size 5, fit true to size, and hold up beautifully with regular wear—I’ve had mine for a couple of years. You’ll want to treat them with a weather-protecting spray, but otherwise they’re low-maintenance and incredibly warm.

The Project Cloud Boots start at 5.5, but they still fit my size 5 feet comfortably. They’re very comparable to the UGG version in both quality and appearance, with a suede upper, a soft faux-fur lining, and built-in water repellency.

I also own the Tasman Slippers, but I don’t reach for them as much. They read more like house slippers to me, while the Mini Boots look and feel more like an outdoor winter boot—if that makes sense.

I style my Mini Boots with leggings, wide-leg jeans, and plenty of cozy socks for everyday winter comfort.
