It is straight up cold outside this week. Our heat pump is rolling nonstop and I’m wishing I could spend every day hidden under a blanket. I mean wouldn’t every winter day just be perfect curled up in front of a fire with a good book?! The reality is…that’s not a reality and cold or not, life goes on. So, I’m venturing out in layer upon layer, cozy wool sweater upon cozy wool sweater. Anything that can make those trips into the frigid outdoors bearable is on heavy rotation at the moment; two of my most worn items recently, I’m wearing in this post, so I’ll start with those.

Winter’s Most Loved Wardrobe Pieces

As you keep scrolling through this post, you’re going to see that I’m wearing a pair of pumps. I took these pictures a few weeks ago (hence the christmas decorations in the back too) when it was a little milder. Although I love those cutie pie pumps, they have not been gracing my feet lately. I’ve been mostly living in these Sorel boots, riding boots or a pair of booties. Up top, I’m rocking layers, wool and big ol’ puffy coats.

J. Crew Open Front Sweater Blazer

J. Crew Open Front Sweater Blazer Review

Starting with what I’m wearing in the post – this sweater is a little pricey and was a birthday gift to me from my momma! It’s a little more than I would typically spend on a sweater, which really makes it a special gift to me, but the longer it’s been in my wardrobe, the more the price is justified. I would wear this sweater every day if I could get away with it. It goes with EVERYTHING! I think my favorite part about it, is the balance between structure and cozy that it has. Not quite as structured as a traditional blazer, but also not loose like a traditional cardigan. It pulls together nearly every outfit, plus it’s really warm and layers beautifully under jackets. Hands down this is my most loved item in my winter wardrobe, and I know it will last for years.

J. Crew Turtleneck Sweater

J. Crew cropper turtleneck

This turtleneck sweater was one of those things that worked really well for me because of my height. The sweater is meant to be cropped, which would look great with a pair of high rise denim or a pencil skirt, on someone that is taller than me. However, on me – the length is a perfect hip height. This sweater always keeps me warm and I love the high low hem. It’s hand wash only, but washes beautifully. It does pill a little, but I’ve been able to take care of those will a little sweater shave here or there.

J. Crew Sweater for women, styled by Brooke of Pumps & Push-Ups

Aside from the two winter loves worn in this post I’ve been getting a lot of wear out of tissue turtlenecks, worn layered under flannel button downs. As I write this post I’m wearing this turtleneck and top. Such a comfortable and laid back combo, totally one of my most worn outfits this winter. I also have to mention the coats I’ve been wearing lately. I finally took a dive into the J. Crew Factory coat world and grabbed a city coat, which I love! I have a camel one and wear it often. however, my newest favorite is this parka from the girls section at J. Crew. Totally another small person perk being able to shop in the kids section. This coat really does run large however, I tried both the 14 and 16 – I would say the 16 fits like a women’s medium and the 14, which is what I kept fits like a women’s small.

This coat is so incredibly warm. I may look a little bit like a furry marshmallow wearing it, but I’m one warm marshmallow.
