In today’s post, I’m sharing a mix of outfits with casual summer shorts. One outfit has denim shorts, and two have soft, relaxed shorts, which are quickly becoming my favorites. Read on for a full review of each pair of petite-friendly summer shorts.

Casual Summer Shorts Outfits
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Scalloped Shorts
I recently made an order from Kohl’s and found a lot of things I loved! The trouble is – sometimes I have a hard time sharing Kohl’s pieces before they sell out. So if you love them, act quickly, they seem to carry limited stock. Two of the winning pieces from my recent Kohl’s order are this pair of scalloped shorts, and a printed blouse. Starting with the shorts, I’m wearing them in XS and they have a perfect relaxed fit. The waistband is stretchy and there isn’t any ride-up in the back when you walk in this pair. My favorite, and unexpected, thing about these shorts is that they are fully-lined. They also come in light blue. The top has a great fit and comes in petite sizing. It’s one of those tops you can dress up and down and can look great for work too. Plus, it has sleeves! I’m wearing it here in Petite XS and find it to fit true to size.

Drawstring Shorts
I haven’t been successful in finding drawstring jeans I love, but these shorts are a win! They’re so comfortable. The perfect amount of relaxed without being too baggy. I don’t know about you, but I’m in a season of just being tired of wearing tight denim shorts that ride up and you spend all day pulling them down. I want breezy and roomy! The shorts are true to size, for reference, I’m wearing them in Petite XS. I’m wearing them with a petite t-shirt I found at Gap. If you’re looking for great basics, I highly recommend the petites at Gap and Old Navy.

AE Perfect Shorts
You’ll love this pair if you love soft and stretchy denim shorts. I’m wearing them in 00 here, but after wearing them all day today, I think a size-up would be more comfortable. They have a 3.5″ inseam, which is a little bit shorter than the 4″ I prefer, but the soft stretch denim makes up for it. Despite being high-rise, they don’t squeeze on your stomach and are a nice complement to a cropped top.
