The star of today’s outfit post is this lovely statement necklace. While its not real “ice” I sure feel icy when I wear it. What I love most is that with multicolored gem stones, this beauty can be worn with almost anything.

Speaking of ice…in exactly one month from today, I will be barreling into the ice cold Atlantic ocean to raise money for Special Olympics Virginia!!!!! This will be the fifth straight year that my dear friend Tiffani and I participate in the Virginia Beach Polar Plunge so its a big one for the two of us! The fact that we have done this for five years now completely blows my mind. I remember when I first decided I wanted to take the plunge. I sent an email out to a bunch of my friends to see if anyone else was as crazy as I was, thinking I would get a lot of responses but only one took the bait. That one brave soul and I have made the trek to Virginia Beach every year since 2010 for this special event. If you have never been to a Polar Plunge, you should at least go see one in your lifetime. You can just feel everyone’s excitement and energy as they prepare to dive into freezing cold water. Many dress in costumes which is a large part of the fun (see below). The event kicks off with the athletes taking the first plunge then all of the fundraisers charge in together afterwards. The best part is that all of this is done to support the efforts of Special Olympics, an organization that enriches the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities through athletic competition.
