Graduation Guest Dresses
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
What Should I Wear to a Graduation?
When it comes to attending a graduation as a guest, a dress is a great option. The style you choose depends on the setting of the ceremony. If you’re attending a high school graduation held at a football stadium, a sundress is a great choice! If you’re attending a more formal ceremony for college and post graduate degrees, you may want to choose something with a little more polish. In this post I chose a few options that are polished, but could still be worn casually so they will fit almost any graduation celebration.
Navy Dress
This navy dress from Banana Republic Factory is a classic. It’s a linen blend so it will keep you cool, and being a blend, it’s less likely to wrinkle than 100% linen. This dress is a V-neck style with an A-line skirt. It has a zipper closure and a fabric belt to cinch the waist. It is true to size, I’m wearing it here in Petite 00. There are three other color options for this dress as well.

Neutral Dress
I love the neutral color palette and timeless fit of this next dress. It’s another linen blend and is fully lined. However, this dress runs a bit big, so a size down is the best overall fit. The buttons on the front are functional, and there is a button detail in the back you can use to adjust the waist if you would like to. I’m wearing the dress in Petite 00.

Linen Wrap Dress
In keeping with the light linen theme, I chose another linen blend dress with a wrap style. This dress is fully lined, and the wrap feature is only at the top (it doesn’t have a wrap skirt). I love anything that has adjustable features, so the wrap at the top is much appreciated. This dress is fully lined and true to size – I’m wearing it in Petite 00.

Light Blue Skirt
The last option is a skirt and top combo. I love the soft light blue and embroidered detail on the skirt. This skirt is fully lined and structured. It comes with a rope/belt that I did not tie on. I also removed the string loops for the belt because I felt like it took away from the skirt. Size wise, I find it to fit true to size and I’m wearing it in Petite 00. The sleeveless top comes in petite sizing, but not in blue so I opted for regular sizing, and it still fits well. It is a sweater knit, so it’s a little bit thicker and maybe not the best choice if you’ll be sitting in the heat outdoors. For reference, I’m wearing the top in XXS.
The skirt and top are low in stock. Most of the things I’ve been sharing from Ann Taylor and LOFT lately have been selling out quickly. It’s just as frustrating to me as it is to you, and something I wish I had control over. The only thing I can offer is to keep an eye out for you for restocks – I share restocks on my IG story when I see them.

I think all of these dresses would be great options for the office as well. With the sleeveless options I would add a blazer to make it more professional.
