Spring is sweet; fresh blooms, warmer temps and fun clothes, like this J. Crew gingham top. I’ve always loved gingham and J. Crew has never let me down. Even when gingham wasn’t at its peak of coolness, like it is this season, they always put out a little gingham to please my little heart. Some say gingham reminds them of a picnic blanket…but to me it’s preppy, polished and perfect!

The Top

But, let’s talk about this top in particular. It runs small, in my opinion, so I would size up. I ordered my typical size, and although it fits well overall, if it pops up on my shoulders, it can be a little short and tummy bearing. The shoulder band was also a little tight on me, so I think one size up and it would have made for a better fit. Fit issues aside, the sweet little bows and of course the gingham, stole my heart.

The Accessories

I’m obsessed with Kendra Scott, she can do not wrong. I love that although these earrings are big and bold, they don’t pull my lobes down, which is totally not cute. This pair is light and I love the shape of them, plus they go with everything!

The Pants

White denim can be such a struggglleeee. White is not forgiving at all, so every little lump, bump and crease is going to show through white denim. Unless, you find the perfect pair! I’m a sucker for American Eagle denim, so I grabbed their white jeggings. I went up one size because I didn’t want them to be tight, the tighter they are, the more likely you’ll see every lump, bump and crease. In terms of sheerness, this pair isn’t see through and is a nice, heavy weight, so they are relatively forgiving. I just need to get them hemmed, which is the story of my, when I will find time for that, I’ll let ya know.

How To Wear The Off The Shoulder Trend

The Shoes

If you’re a blogger or you read a blog or two, you’ve seen these Marc Fisher wedges on repeat and everyone is singing their praises! I was a little hesitant to go for them since the price tag is a little high. But I have worn them so many times since purchasing them, they are so worth it. They’re so comfortable, as everyone says, and I can truly get around well in them, so I don’t mind wearing them out with my boys. If you’re on the fence, they’re an investment I was happy I made! But another great option are these Steve Madden dupes that everyone loves, for a fraction of the cost!

J. Crew Off The Shoulder Top

Where I Wore It

I was recently asked on Instagram about wearing an off the shoulder top when you have children. The constant lifting and bending that must be done with kids can make it uncomfortable to wear a strapless bra and the constant popping up of the shoulder band can be irritating. I’ll be honest with you, I tend to save my off the shoulder tops for date nights and other times that I won’t be picking the boys up a lot. While I don’t mind strapless bras, because I’m not blessed up top, the constant popping of the shoulder band is annoying if you’re trying to chase your littles around the park or if you’re putting them in and out of their car seats. I’ve had the best luck with tops that have a stretchy band, they move the best with your shoulders, which is why I would size up in this top, so it will move better. Or, if you want to rock the trend without the annoying popping, I love cold shoulder tops and off the shoulder tops with straps!

This particular day, I was out with my hubby, whenever we steal away for photoshoots, we also take a little time to just spend together, which makes it fun!
