The first time I spotted this top, it was on Nordstrom’s website and was totally sold out in my size. It was one of the sad moments of jealousy toward whoever snatched up all the x-smalls before I had a chance to shop. I even went over the J. Crew site, but the shirt didn’t exist there, yet. Since I loved it, based on the picture alone, I posted it on my Facebook page prompting anyone whose size was still in stock to buy it, so I could live vicariously through them.
Then of course, I saw it all over Instagram, loved it on everyone, but didn’t think to take a second look. I’m so small, I’ve grown quite accustomed to longing for things I can’t have…because they won’t fit me. Shoes, certain brands, etc. But, last week, I was shopping on J. Crew, online and there it was…in my size! I scooped it up so fast, along with this top and this skirt. I showed both of these off in my Insta stories, are you following me yet?! I’ll follow you right back, because I love making Insta boos. But, ultimately I decided to send the skirt back, it just wasn’t a good fit for me. But don’t worry the cute gingham OTS top, you’ll see that soon on this here blog.
When I first tried on my beloved top, my husband had his comments from the peanut gallery…”it doesn’t match, like at all.” So I had to explain the trend of pattern mixing to him. To which he replied, “it isn’t cool, y’all are just trying to make it cool.” By y’all, I’m not sure if he meant girls, bloggers, J. Crew?! I dunno. Men. But I challenged him to work extra hard on these pictures of me and he stepped up to the plate. We searched for the perfect lighting and played around with the camera’s manual mode, which we’re both still growing accustomed to.
In the end, maybe just to appease me, he agreed I looked pretty in my new top. Thanks boo, la you.
Last I checked, this top was on backorder, I guess I’m not the only one who thought it was cool. But if I were you, I would jump on that list!
