It’s still sweltering outside, but you’re going to see the official transition to fall happening on my blog. When you’re a hard-to-fit size, you have to start shopping the next season’s collection as it’s released or your size will sell out. Since retailers have switched to fall you can expect that I’ll keep you up on what’s being released and what is a perfect fit for petites for fall. To kick off the new season, I’ve curated a series of posts featuring the shoes I’ll be pairing with my fall transitional outfits, along with a few styling ideas.

Leopard Mary Jane Flats Three Ways
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Leopard Mary Jane Flats
Ballet flats and mary jane flats continue to be popular for fall 2025. The sleek profile of a pair of flats makes them perfect for petites. They don’t add bulk to an outfit, so they pair well with dresses, skirts, and pants of nearly any length. You can pair them with your cropped pants and jeans or tuck them under a full-length drapey pair. A ballet flat can be a workhorse in your transitional wardrobe – perfect for mild weather and a versatile choice that can go with just about everything in your closet.
Reyes Ballet Flats
The Reyes Ballet Flats come in several colors. They start at a size five and are true to size with a soft cushioned footbed. I love the modern squared off toe and appreciate that the strap across the top of the foot isn’t overly thick. A thin strap is the best choice for petites. I’m styling a leopard option in this post for a pop of pattern in a fall outfit, but I also own and love these flats in neutral bamboo suede.

I love wearing wide-leg trousers with flats. They’re drapey and relaxed, making them a perfect pairing. In this outfit, I’m wearing a pair of 365 High Rise Pleated Trousers from Gap and a Cotton Cashmere Tank from Quince.

Boden Cornelia Ottoman Dress

The Cornelia Ottoman Dress from Boden is a beautiful pairing with leopard flats. The ottoman knit dress is stretchy, slim cut, but not too tight and clingy. It’s long-sleeved and perfect for wearing to work and casually. I paired it with a lady denim jacket, but it also looks great on its own.

I find myself wearing wide-leg jeans more and more as we transition into fall. The Quince Bella Relaxed Straight Jeans are one of my favorites, featuring a 10″ rise and comfortable stretch denim. They’re true to size and available in inseam options starting at 26″. I paired them with a chocolate brown tie-up top from Banana Republic Factory. I wore a nude camisole underneath, but I ordered this brown one to be a closer match to the top rather than looking like I’m not wearing a layer underneath.
