The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is one of the most highly anticipated sales of the year. It’s one of the few times you can grab new items for the next season at a discount. Items always sell out quickly, but if you plan ahead, you can snag a great deal!

Sale access is staggered with cardholders getting first dibs. Within cardholders there are tiers, based on how much you’ve spent at Nordstrom throughout the year.

I recommend viewing the preview and building out your wishlist. When your sale access opens, you can quickly add the items to your cart. It’s competitive – I always wake up early, whenever my sales window opens up. Many popular items will sell out quickly, but keep checking back for your wishlist items as often more stock is released throughout the sale.

What to Buy and What to Skip

What you choose to buy or not buy is totally up to you. But when it comes to the Nordstrom Sale, I primarily focus on jeans, pants, and shoes, as well as a few items that I know I love buying, such as these pajamas. I also use the opportunity to purchase back-to-school shoes and clothes for my boys. Beauty products sometimes fill my cart, but I stick to brands I already love and use.

I find that some brands also run sales simultaneously. Madewell, for example, is also sold at Nordstrom and there are Madewell pieces in the sale. I would recommend checking their site too to see if the item is a lower price or possibly in stock when it’s sold out on the Nordstom website. The same thing goes for Levi’s and Wit & Wisdom. I think it’s a great time to grab boots, but a lot of the time the boots will go on sale again later in the season. I personally find it hard to buy fall things when it’s not fall – my brain just doesn’t work that way. But if you’ve been eyeing something like these water resistant Blondo boots, it’s a good time to find them in-stock and also on sale.

I browsed the preview and pulled out items I already have and love as well as pieces that have promising measurements and sizing for petites. I will try my best to review some of these and show them styled, but my sale window doesn’t open until July 10th, and I don’t have a local Nordstrom, so I have to order online. So, some of it will sell out before I get my hands on it to review for you.

Jeans

Wit & Wisdom is high on my N Sale wishlist. Their petite jeans are a great fit, and they’re stretchy and comfortable. I saw there are several pairs that will be part of the sale. I also pulled out a pair of Levi’s and a few pairs that are cropped styles that will be full-length for petites.

Workwear

I chose tops from the Halogen brand because their pieces tend to be petite-friendly and start at XXS. There are more Wit& Wisdom picks here as well. The dresses are a gamble, but based on the fit I’ve found with other dresses from the brands, I think they could work for petites.

Lounge & Active

Last year I bought these pajamas and they have become the pair I want to wear the most often. The cropped length is full-length on me. They’re soft, wash well and are just all around great! I also highly recommend this Spanx active dress. I’m very particular with active dresses , they’re cute, but I just can’t do the skintight, low back, low chest, super short versions you see a lot of. This dress in particular does have a compressive base layer, but the top layer is loose – so it doesn’t feel revealing. It’s not low cut, not a low back and the shorts are easy pull down in the back for bathroom breaks. I wear it in XS. I haven’t tried the Zella dress but if I can get my hands on it, it looks promising. The sneakers are highly popular so they’ll be some of the first things to sell out, but if you can snag a pair, they’re worth it. Both the Hoka and ON styles are so comfortable and some of my favorite pairs.

Shoes & Boots

I browsed most of the knee-high boots that are part of the sale and landed on two that have a shaft height under 15″. For me, anything taller and they’re over my knee. I also added a few pairs that look like great staple staples for fall, flats, sneakers and loafers and heels that are great for work.
