One Week of Petite Business Casual Outfits for Fall
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Outfit 1: Olive Wide-Leg Pants + Trench Coat
Fit Notes: The 365 Olive Wide-Leg Pants from Gap are petite-friendly with a 28″ inseam and a true-to-size fit. They have a high rise, pleated front, and a waistband that’s flat in the front but stretchy in the back. I’ve noticed some sizing variation between colors, but this olive pair is spot on. The Icon Trench Coat from J.Crew is proportioned well for petites and true to size, although the sleeves are slim—size up if you want to layer heavier sweaters underneath.
How to Wear It: I paired the pants with a white boatneck top and layered on the trench for a timeless fall outfit that feels polished but easy.

Outfit 2: Plaid Skirt + Camel Cardigan
Fit Notes: The plaid skirt from J.Crew Factory hits above the knee on petites and runs true to size, with a little extra room at the waist. The camel duster cardigan from J.Crew is slightly oversized but works well for layering, while the tailored white button-down from J.Crew Factory has a slim, petite-friendly fit. I’m wearing the cardigan in XXS, but if you’re able to a size down will give you a closer fit. I’m wearing the white button down in petite xxs and find it to fit true to size. It is a little bit sheer, so I recommend wearing a nude bra with it. The Sam Edelman loafers run true to size and are comfortable right out of the box.
How to Wear It: I tucked the button-down into the skirt, added the cardigan for a cozy layer, and finished with loafers—an easy, classic fall work look.

Outfit 3: Cream Wide-Leg Trousers + Cashmere Tee
Fit Notes: The cream wide-leg trousers from the LOFT Versa Collection have a flowy fit and true-to-size stretch waistband. The petite inseam is 27.5″, which skims the top of ballet flats. The cashmere t-shirt from Quince in oatmeal runs true to size and feels soft but lightweight, perfect for layering in all seasons.
How to Wear It: I added a leather belt for shape and finished with neutral ballet flats. This look is all classic pieces that are easy to fall back on when you don’t want to think about what to wear.

Outfit 4: Corduroy Dress + Ballet Flats
Fit Notes: This deep green corduroy dress from J.Crew Factory is petite-friendly with a few fit notes. I find it to be true to size in classic sizing and a nice length. The petite sizing ran small and short for me, so I recommend a size up if you choose petite. I swapped the fabric belt for a leather one for more structure. The corduroy has no stretch so if you’re in between sizes or struggle with fit across the chest or hips, a size up may be a good bet.
How to Wear It: I styled it with neutral ballet flats for a simple, throw-on-and-go work outfit that still feels put together.

Outfit 5: Burgundy Dress + Slingback Heels
Fit Notes: The burgundy dress from LOFT is made from a stretchy fabric that’s comfortable and forgiving. It runs true to size and has a length that works well on petites without feeling too long or short. The print and color are gorgeous. It also pairs nicely with knee high boots as the weather gets cooler.
How to Wear It: I added a nude belt to define the waist and paired it with pointed-toe slingback heels for a leg-lengthening look.
