Ya’ll, sometimes, life gets stressful. When I find myself full of anxiety, stress and worry, I like to escape, with a good book. For me, there is nothing more stress relieving than curling up in the fuzziest blanket I own with a feel good read.
Here’s what I’ve been curling up with lately:
1. The Magnolia Story – Chip & Joanna Gaines
I am a huge Fixer Upper fan. When we were building our house, I spent hours looking through Joanna’s Pinterest feed and never missing an episode. But, this book was so much more than I expected it to be. I smiled the entire time I read this book, learning about their story, how they faced challenges, blessings and never lost their faith in God or each other. It’s a beautiful story you’ll be sure to love!
2. The Fixer Upper – Mary Kay Andrews
Mary Kay Andrews is a girl after my own heart. Of her stories that I’ve read, she takes you to a charming southern town with at least one character who is into interior design and the appreciation of charm and antiques. That character is me! Well, if I was an interior designer for real and not just someone who loved it. In this story, Dempsey goes from a life in politics to a charming southern town in a run down victorian mansion. She has the task of fixing it up to turn a profit. Along the way there is a little mystery, a little love and a lot of fun!
3. Savannah Blues – Mary Kay Andrews
I’ve been on a Mary Kay Andrews spree lately, probably because I’m longing for warm southern sunshine. In this story, Weezie is recently divorced and struggling to get her picking business off the ground. She has a love for antiques, estate sales and design. Like all of Mary Kay Andrew’s story, this story is full of love and a lot of laughter.
4 Savannah Breeze – Mary Kay Andrews
Savannah Breeze is a sequel to Savannah Blues, about Weezie’s best friend BeBe. BeBe is a self made, successful, business woman who finds herself down her luck when a seductive con man takes her for every penny she is worth. All she is left with is a run down motel on Tybee Island. The story follows her journey back to success and to giving the con man what he deserves.
5. Ten Years Taken – Susannah B. Lewis
If you follow Whoah Susannah on Facebook, you know Susannah B. Lewis is full of laughs. I actually followed her for some time before I realized she was an author. This was the first book I read of hers and I read it in a day, it was so good. In this story, Elle is kidnapped by a handsome wealthy Texan, to be his wife. She is forced to leave her daughter, family and the love of her life behind. Over the course of ten years, a strange relationship develops and you wonder if Elle, now known as Grace will ever find her way back to her old life. Ten Years Taken is full of mystery and love, two of my favorite topics.
