I’m packing my bags for another trip to my favorite magical place, and I thought it would be fun to share the outfits I’m bringing along. I’m a fan of theme parks in general, but there’s something about Disney World that keeps me coming back. We’re lucky enough to visit several times a year, including in the middle of summer when the heat and humidity are at their peak.

Call me crazy, but summer is actually one of my favorite times to visit. The temperatures may be high, but they also tend to keep the crowds a little lower than other times of the year. I’ll happily trade a little extra sweat for more room to enjoy the parks.

When I pack for Disney in the summer, I don’t lean into overly themed or cutesy outfits. I always enjoy seeing the creativity behind them, but they’re just not my personal style. Instead, I focus on outfits that can handle the heat and keep me comfortable all day long.

I reach for relaxed-fitting shorts made from quick-drying fabrics, cotton undergarments, and a cotton camisole as my base layer for added comfort. On top, I stick with breathable cotton T-shirts and tank tops. Over the years, I’ve learned to skip anything that feels restrictive or holds onto heat, including spandex tops, bike shorts, skorts, dresses, and shorts with built-in liners. Comfort always wins when you’re spending all day walking in the Florida sun.

These outfits were created with my Disney trip in mind, but since they aren’t themed, they will work for any theme park in the summer season.

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. What to Wear to a Theme Park in the Summer: Comfortable Outfit Ideas

Activewear Shorts + Cropped Cotton Top

This is my unofficial uniform for a summer Disney trip: roomy athletic shorts and a cropped cotton T-shirt. I’ve tried and returned more pairs of athletic shorts than I can count to find the ones that work best for me in the Florida heat.

When I’m shopping for shorts, I look for a few specific things. I prefer a waistband that isn’t overly tall, a relaxed fit through the hips that doesn’t cling, fabric that’s thick enough not to be sheer, and no built-in briefs. My ideal inseam falls somewhere between 3.5 and 5 inches for a comfortable, modest fit.

The pair I’m wearing in the photo above is Athleta’s Midday Shorts. They were absolutely perfect, and I was disappointed they weren’t restocked this year. When they were available, I picked them up in four colors because the fit was so good. I would have happily added even more to my collection for future Disney trips.

This season, I found a new favorite: a pair of shorts from Alo that checks all the same boxes. Alo isn’t a brand I typically gravitate toward since much of their lineup leans heavily into fitted activewear and cropped tops, but these shorts are a standout. Even in an XXS, they have plenty of room through the hips without feeling oversized. The length is modest, they don’t cling, and the waistband isn’t excessively high. You can wear it rolled or unrolled, though I prefer the unrolled fit.

I paired them with an oversized cropped T-shirt from Lululemon. I love the cropped length because it lets the shorts shine without needing to tuck anything in. The relaxed fit feels breezy for long, hot days at the parks while giving my shoulders and upper arms a little extra coverage from the sun.

Of course, I will absolutely add ears – because when in Disney.

Linen Shorts + Tank Top

I’ll more than likely be pulling my hair back like this most of my trip as well. So hot and humid!

This outfit isn’t new—it’s one I’ve shared before, worn many times, and will be packing again for this trip. The Retreat Linen Shorts from Athleta are a great option for Disney. They have a relaxed fit that doesn’t cling or ride up, and even in this light color, they’re not sheer. I wear them in my true size, XXS.

I paired them with a tucked-in cotton tank top and sneakers for an easy, comfortable outfit that’s perfect for a full day at the parks.

Chambray Shorts + Cotton Tank Top

I’ve been reaching for these chambray shorts from LOFT a lot this summer. They have a relaxed fit that doesn’t cling or ride up, making them a great candidate for a long day at Disney. I haven’t worn them to the parks yet, but I’m excited to put them to the test on this trip.

I’m also planning to wear these sneakers from Quince. My first impression is that they’re soft, flexible, and comfortable enough for a full day of walking, but I’ll report back once I’ve logged some serious miles in them.

The tank top is a lightweight sweater knit, which might not be the first fabric you’d think to wear on a hot summer day. However, it’s made from 100% cotton with an open-knit construction, so I’m expecting it to stay breathable and comfortable in the heat.

I also added a hat to this outfit. I love wearing my ears, but after several days in the Florida sun, I sometimes switch to a hat for a little extra face protection. Yes, you’ll need to take it off before most rides, but I’ve done it plenty of times, and it’s never been a hassle.

Active Romper

An active romper with a breezier feel—no tight spandex shorts underneath. I usually wear it as a swimsuit cover-up for pool and beach days, but I think it would also make a great outfit for a day at the parks.

For comfort, I like to layer it over a cotton camisole. It buttons at the top and has an open back, so I like the added coverage. If you prefer, you could also wear it with a sports bra instead of a regular bra.

I’m wearing the XS and like to pull the waist up slightly, letting the fabric blouse over a bit. That little styling trick creates more balanced proportions on my petite frame.
