While budget-friendly and petite-friendly aren’t always an easy combination to come by, I’ll keep doing my best to find winning pieces for you to try. In today’s post, I’ve rounded up a handful of budget-friendly outfit options for the office from Walmart, Amazon, and Kohl’s.

Budget Friendly Outfits for Work
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
A Navy Dress with Gold Buttons
She’s preppy and polished – and under $30. This navy sweater dress with gold buttons is a fantastic Walmart find. The dress is from the Free Assembly brand, which is known for being high-quality at Walmart. The dress feels well-made, and the buttons are functional. The dress looked a little short on the model, so it felt like a good bet for me, and I was right! If you’re in between sizes and have the option, consider sizing down for a close fit. In XS, this dress fits me, but it has a little extra room through the body. If you love it, act fast – pieces at Walmart are known to sell out quickly.

A Burgundy Mockneck Sweater Dress
The Walmart dress I almost returned – but it just needed a belt. On the first try, this burgundy dress from the Scoop brand at Walmart seemed too long on me. It has a dropped waist that is too dropped for my height. However, with a belt – it’s perfect. The belt cinches at my waist and draws the eye away from the seam. This dress is thick and warm for the cooler days ahead. It fits me well through the body in XS, and I love the gorgeous color. I find this one to be true to size overall.

The Amazon Pleated Skirt I Own in Multiple Colors
It’s that skirt again. The pleated skirt I love from Amazon and will keep recommending over and over again. This skirt is fully lined, has a comfortable stretch waist, and washes and wears well. I can wear this skirt in XS and Small, thanks to the stretch waist. I have it in small in some colors due to limited XS color options, but I would go for your true size.
Pleated Skirt Care
I wash this skirt in the washing machine and lay it flat to dry. To remove wrinkles, I steam it vertically. I’ve had the skirt for a few years and have had no issues with the pleats coming out.
I paired the skirt with a petite cardigan from Kohl’s and a petite button-down from J.Crew Factory. The button-down is true to size and has a slim, tailored fit for petites – perfect for laying. The cardigan is true to size, but is a little bit long in the arms, despite being petite sizing.

The Pants That Feel Like a Pair of Leggings
These LC Lauren Conrad pants are stretchy and comfortable, like wearing a pair of leggings. I love the clean front, stretch fabric, and petite-friendly 27.5″ inseam. However, I have a warning for my short-torso friends: these pants have a very high 11.5″ rise that comes to the bottom of my rib cage. Since they’re stretchy, the rise is still comfortable to wear, but I wanted you to be aware of how high they are. They’re true to size, but since the fabric is stretchy and a little clingy, a size up is a comfortable choice as well. I paired them with the same cardigan I wore with the pleated skirt and a petite dolman top in the same color.
