If you’re looking for fresh outfit inspiration for the office this summer, these four workwear looks combine petite-friendly pieces that fit well right off the rack. I’ve included a mix of skirts and pants along with lightweight layers that work well in air-conditioned offices and professional environments.
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Outfit 1: Neutral Polka Dot Skirt and Cropped Blazer
The pleated skirt from Anthropologie features a soft neutral polka dot print that feels feminine without being overly busy. Although it isn’t available in petite sizing, it fits me well in my true size 00 and works beautifully on a shorter frame.
I paired it with White House Black Market’s cropped blazer in the color Pumice. The blazer is true to size and has excellent petite proportions. I especially love the cropped length, which pairs perfectly with skirts and dresses by highlighting the waistline rather than overwhelming a petite frame.
Fit Notes
- Anthropologie pleated skirt: Size XXS, true to size
- WHBM Cropped Blazer in Pumice: true to size
- Cropped length works especially well with skirts

Outfit 2: Cropped Wide-Leg Pants and Blazer
In this outfit, I paired olive cropped wide-leg trousers with a cropped blazer from White House Black Market.
These petite pants feature a 10″ rise and a 23.5″ inseam. I found them true to size overall, although they are slightly snug through my hips. If you want a little extra length, the pants have a 25″ inseam in standard.
The coordinating blazer is a perfect cropped fit for petites. The sleeve length is spot on. It’s soft and stretchy, so it’s also forgiving across the shoulders.

- 10″ rise, 23.5″ inseam
- Slightly snug through the hips

Outfit 3: Handkerchief Hem Skirt and Stretch Blazer
The handkerchief hem skirt from White House Black Market combines soft neutrals with an interesting print for a look that feels professional without being boring. The print combines shades of brown, black, and gold, making it surprisingly versatile and easy to pair with other neutrals.
I styled it with White House Black Market’s Stretch Blazer and a chocolate brown dolman top. The top has a beautiful drape and soft feel, but it does run large. If you’re between sizes, I would recommend sizing down.
The structured blazer balances the relaxed shape of the top and creates a polished silhouette that’s ideal for the office. The blazer is a spot on true to size fit for petites.

- WHBM Handkerchief Hem Skirt: Petite 00, true to size
- Unlined but not sheer

Outfit 4: White Poplin Skirt and Vest
For the final outfit, I paired a crisp white poplin skirt with a tailored vest for a polished summer look.
The skirt is from J.Crew Factory and is available in petite sizing, but I opted for the standard version to gain a little extra length. It fits well throughout the waist and hips in my usual size and creates a beautiful silhouette.
It’s 100% cotton poplin. The fabric is somewhat sheer, so I recommend adding a slip underneath for coverage.
On top, I layered Aritzia’s Regal Vest. This vest is exceptionally well proportioned for petites, with a length that doesn’t overwhelm a shorter torso. I did size up because it runs small, but once sized correctly, the fit is excellent.
Fit Notes
- J.Crew Factory Poplin Skirt: true to size
- Petite and standard sizing available
- Slightly sheer; recommend a slip
- Aritzia Regal Vest: size up, runs small
- Petite-friendly proportions
