A great skirt can be one of the easiest pieces to wear during the summer. They’re comfortable, breezy, and easy to dress up or down depending on the occasion.

Today I’m sharing four petite-friendly skirts that fit my 4’10” frame well right off the rack. From maxi skirts to midi styles, these are all pieces I’ve been reaching for this season.

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

1. Somerset Maxi Skirt

The Somerset collection from Anthropologie is always popular, and the Somerset Maxi Skirt is no exception.

Made from 100% cotton, this skirt is lightweight and comfortable while still having enough structure to hold its shape. I’m wearing Petite XXS, and I find it true to size. The skirt is unlined but not sheer.

I paired it with a sleeveless chambray top from J.Crew Factory in XXS for an easy summer outfit that feels classic and casual.

2. J.Crew Cotton Poplin Skirt

If you’ve been searching for a white cotton skirt, this is one of the better options I’ve found.

The J.Crew Cotton Poplin Skirt is made from 100% cotton and has a classic silhouette that works with everything from simple tanks to polished blouses. Although it is available in petite sizing, I actually prefer the standard version because the extra length works well for my style preferences.

I’m wearing XXS, and the fit is true to size throughout the waist and hips. The skirt is unlined and slightly sheer, so I recommend adding a slip underneath for coverage.

To style it, I paired it with the cropped vest that came with my Anthropologie Twofer Dress. The vest is adorable, but it is quite short. With movement, a bit of my midsection can show, so I add a camisole underneath for modesty.

3. Maeve Valerie Pleated Midi Skirt

The Valerie Pleated Midi Skirt from Maeve is a beautiful option if you’re looking for something a little more polished.

Even though it isn’t offered in petite sizing, the proportions work surprisingly well on my frame. I’m wearing XXS, and the fit feels true to size.

The pleats create lovely movement while maintaining a streamlined silhouette. It’s one of those versatile skirts that can easily transition from the office to dinner or special occasions.

4. Target Floral Maxi Skirt

For a more casual option, I’ve been enjoying this floral maxi skirt from Target.

I’m wearing XS, and on my 4’10” frame it reaches the floor when worn with flat sandals. I wear it slightly above my belly button, which helps with the length. If you’re not comfortable wearing the skirt higher on your waist, you may need a heel with this one.

The skirt features a comfortable stretch waistband with a drawstring and is made from a lightweight cotton blend that feels perfect for summer.

It is unlined and can be a little sheer in bright sunlight, so that’s something to keep in mind depending on the color and lighting.
