In today’s post, I’m sharing two casual winter outfits with jeans—both built from classic wardrobe staples I reach for over and over. Each look layers warm coats, cozy sweaters and practical footwear. One outfit is styled with sneakers for comfort, while the other features boots for colder days. If you’re looking for easy, petite-friendly winter outfit ideas, these are simple to recreate.

Casual Winter Outfits

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

Bootcut Jeans

The bootcut jeans from J.Crew are a true classic. They’re made with stretch denim and, in petite, have a 10.25″ rise and a 29.5″ inseam (measured from Petite 24). They fit true to size, and I’ve found that they shrink slightly in the wash over time—so if you prefer to keep the length as-is, you may want to skip the dryer.

I paired the jeans with a wool-blend honeycomb sweater from J.Crew. It’s true to size with a great petite-friendly fit; I’m wearing XXS. Since it’s a wool blend, I like layering it over a turtleneck for extra warmth and to keep the wool from irritating my skin.

To finish the outfit, I added the Long Toscana Coat from J.Crew. It comes in several beautiful colors and has an excellent tailored fit. I’m wearing Petite 00, and there’s still room to layer comfortably. The coat falls below my knees with a straight cut and a stand collar.

Slim Wide-Leg Jeans

In the next outfit, I paired slim wide-leg jeans with sneakers, a cozy sweater, and the Short Toscana Coat. The Slim Wide-Leg Jeans from J.Crew are perfect if you want to try the wide-leg trend without going too wide or baggy. They have more of a straight-cut feel, just with a little extra room. In Petite 24, they have a 10.25″ rise and a 27″ inseam, and the stretchy denim is super comfortable while still holding its shape. I find them true to size.

The fair isle sweater has a great petite-friendly fit. I’m wearing XXS. It’s 100% wool, so it’s one of those sweaters you’ll need to dry-clean, but the warmth and pattern make it worth it.

For my coat, I went with the Short Toscana Coat. I love the longer version too, but this one is easier to move around in since it hits above the knee. It’s true to size, and I’m wearing Petite 00.

I finished the outfit with ankle socks and my Gola Elan sneakers. I’ve grown to love these so much—they’re comfortable, neutral, and a perfect fit for my size-five feet.
