Spanx is best known for their sculpting leggings and shapewear, but their petite jeans and pants deserve just as much attention. On my 4’10” frame, finding petite pants that actually fit can be a challenge, so I tried five different pairs from Spanx to see how they measure up.

Spanx Petite Pants and Jeans Review on a 4’10” Frame
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Spanx Wide Leg Jeans
These jeans have such a sleek fit! I’m wearing them in Petite XS in Marina Wash, which is a dark, clean wash. They have a very high rise (about 11″) that really elongates the legs. Even though they’re a little relaxed on me, they still give a slimming effect and skim over my hips.
The 30″ inseam is a little long on my 4’10” frame—I get a slight bunch even with a 2″ heel. The fabric is stretchy and comfortable with medium compression and a flattering fit through the back. I think one run in the dryer will shrink them just enough to be perfect.

Spanx Slim Straight Jeans
These slim straight jeans are a true classic—you can wear them with both boots and flats. I sized up to a 2 Petite since they run small, and I can definitely feel the sculpting compression through the thighs, backside, and rise. The 26″ inseam in petite is perfect for boots and flats, with the hem hitting right at the top of my foot. On my 4’10” frame, they’re a little tricky with low-profile sneakers, so I reach for something with a taller shaft, like Converse, to tuck under cleanly.
Despite the compression, they’re still very comfortable and flattering. I paired them with boots here, tucking the hem over the boots for a clean look.

Spanx Barrel Jeans
I’m wearing these in Petite XS, and the fit is just a little too relaxed for me. I’d recommend sizing down for the best shape. That said, I love the modern barrel silhouette and the 25.5″ inseam is spot on for petites—it works perfectly with boots.
They have medium compression through the rise and an overall relaxed fit through the legs, making them comfortable for everyday wear.

Spanx Kick Flare Ponte Pants
These are the pants that feel like leggings but look polished. The pull-on style has a comfortable rise and medium compression through the thighs. They’re a cropped flare, though from the front they resemble straight pants—the flare is more visible from the side.
I’m wearing my true size here petite xs. There’s a small waist gap on me, but since they fit so well through the hips and thighs, it doesn’t bother me. These are versatile for work or casual wear.

Spanx AirEssentials Wide Leg Pants
These are the dreamy wide-leg pants that everyone raves about, and I totally get it. In petite, the 28.5″ inseam is still a little long on me, so they bunch a bit. I find they work best with a chunkier sneaker to keep them from dragging.
Otherwise, they’re true to size and unbelievably comfortable. The matching top in XS has a cozy fit, making this set perfect for travel, lounging, or everyday wear.

Spanx really delivers on sculpting, comfort, and quality—though as a 4’10” petite, I sometimes need to adjust inseams or size down for the best fit. My top pick? The Slim Straight Jeans for everyday wear and the AirEssentials Wide Leg Pants for travel and lounging.
