Classic Summer Outfits
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
European Linen Dress
This dress is one of my favorites from Quince. It’s beautiful! It has adjustable straps, with three button options. In my first review of this dress, I mentioned the straps were still not short enough at the shortest button option, but a reader recommended wearing the straps crossed in the back, and that works perfectly! Fitwise, the dress is perfect! The waist is a little bit stretchy and fits my waist well (I have a 24″ waist and am wearing XS). The skirt is full and twirly. In lighter colors, like Flax, the skirt is fully lined, but in navy, it’s unlined. It’s a 10/10 I highly recommend it!
Linen Shorts
In the next two outfits, I styled a pair of high-rise linen shorts from Quince. Linen will keep you cool and dry even in the most brutal of summer heat. This pair from Quince has a stretch waist that you can dress up and down. Fitwise, they are a little bit generous, but I would still choose your true size for a breezy fit. In red, they’re not see-through, but in white, they’re sheer. I would recommend nude undergarments for the best look with both colors.
In the first outfit I paired the shorts with a jersey boatneck top and one of my all-time favorite cardigans from Quince, the Organic Cotton Cropped Cardigan. This $50 cardigan feels like a $100+ cardigan and is so dreamy. The fabric is durable, easy to wash, and it’s warm and cozy. I’m definitely not wearing this sweater in the middle of a hot summer day, but for a cool evening watching fireworks or inside a cold air-conditioned space, I’m all for it.

In the next outfit I paired red linen shorts with a linen button-down top. The top comes in all of the same colors as the shorts, so you could have a matching moment. I find the top to be a little bit oversized on me in XS, in particular it’s quite long, coming to the lower part of my hips. Tucking it in, you’ll have to pull it out quite a bit at the top, and wear it with a relaxed look. I also love the way it looks worn open over a tank top with the matching linen shorts. This, red, white, and blue combination is a subtle festive outfit idea for the Fourth of July.
