There’s something so classy about a neutral summer dress. Don’t get me wrong, I love color too, but a classic black or white dress is always an elegant choice. In today’s post, I have four petite-friendly neutral dresses for summer that work for women under 5′ (and of course taller ladies too).

Neutral Summer Dresses for Petites
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Mixed Media Maxi Dress
A mixed-media dress with a stretch strapless top and fully lined skirt. This dress is from The Drop brand on Amazon, known for elevated options at Amazon prices. Sometimes The Drop is a little more expensive than other Amazon finds, but overall, it’s still well priced. This dress starts at XXS and fits me well in that size. The top is stretchy and double-lined, and it stays put despite being strapless. I can wear this dress with flats or heels.
Two-Tone Maxi Dress
This Amazon dress was a surprising find. It reminded me of a dress I saw at Aritzia, so I took a chance on it. I’ll admit, I expected it to feel cheap based on the picture, but it turned out to be beautiful in person. I would never have guessed it’s an under-$40 Amazon dress. The top is double-lined and not see-through. The skirt is textured and fully lined. It sways beautifully when you walk; it’s a definite winning find. This dress fits me well in XS I would choose your true size.
Cotton Sundress
A 100% cotton dress from The Drop. It’s fully lined with stretch straps and smocking at the top. I’m wearing this dress in XXS, I would say it’s true to size. The straps are also wide enough for a regular bra.
100% Cotton Dress
A cotton option with a full swing skirt. This dress isn’t petite, but in XXS it fits me well. It’s an above the knee option for petites with a fully lined skirt. The dress fits well under the arms and has functional buttons. It is a full dress, without the belt it’s a roomy loose fit, but with a cinch of the belt it has a nice shape. I find this dress blows up in the wind a easily, so you may want to wear shorts under it.
