It didn’t seem right not to include my favorite neutrals in the outfits by color series. To round out the series, this post features petite-friendly summer outfits in black, white, and neutral shades.

Summer Outfits by Color: Neutrals
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
All Black Summer Outfit
All black is always chic, even with comfortable, easy-to-wear pieces. In this outfit, I went with the Stratus Linen Shorts in black paired with a one-shoulder top. Although the top dips off of the shoulder, it just dips slightly, so it’s not something you’re constantly trying to pull up. You do need a strapless bra with it, but just so you can take one strap off, you can keep one on. I’m wearing both pieces in XXS and find them to be true to size.

Linen Vest
I love the combination of a linen vest and shorts. Unfortunately, my exact vest is mostly sold out. It’s from J.Crew Factory and has a great fit (in standard sizing). They recently released a similar vest that also has a great fit – I wear that vest in XXS. I paired it once again with the Stratus Shorts!

Linen Skirt
Oh how I love this linen skirt. A classic white skirt has been trending since last summer, but I’ve struggled to find one that fits me. In comes J.Crew with this linen beauty that’s even better than the popular a-line style. I love the shape, the flare at the bottom, and it’s fully lined. It’s a pull-on style with a stretch waist. This skirt is available in petite sizing and is well-proportioned overall. Even tucking this black top into it, I couldn’t see through it.

Linen Dress
This dress is the best dress I’ve ever purchased from Quince. It’s beautiful! I almost didn’t purchase it at all seeing how it fit the model online. It’s not a petite dress so I thought there was no way the straps would fit me. Turns out – the straps have three button hole options to shorten them. At the shortest option – the straps were still a tiny bit too long for me – so I just added a button hole. I’m not a seamstress but I’ve MacGyvered plenty of clothes in my day. Fitwise, the dress is perfect! The waist is a little bit stretchy and fits my waist well (I have a 24″ waist and am wearing XS). The skirt is full and twirly and it’s fully lined. It’s not one bit see-through and the straps are wide enough you can pull off a regular bra (depending on the style of your bra) with this dress. It’s a 10/10 I highly recommend it!

Linen Set
In this outfit I paired J.Crew’s Harbor linen shorts with a linen top, both in flax. The shorts have a tailored fit, with a button closure in the front and stretch at the back of the waist. I ordered them in yellow and flax and returned yellow because they’re were too see-through, but flax is perfect! The top I chose is a boxy relaxed fit. You can tuck it in, but I found that it felt fussy and like you would constantly be trying to adjust it – so I wore it untucked and relaxed. Worn this way it’s laid back and relaxed, I love it! If you prefer a slimmer top, this linen top also matches the shorts.

Black Dress
I bought this dress last month to share with you, but I forgot to include it in a post. Luckily, I remembered her this go around, and there are still plenty of petite sizes in stock. This cotton-blend dress is an under-$25 option from Kohl’s. It’s stretch jersey, so it’s all-around comfortable to wear. I’m wearing it here in Petite XS, and it fits me well overall with a true-to-size fit.
