If you’re petite and looking for pants you can wear to work this winter, I’m sharing four great options in today’s post. Each pair features a petite-friendly inseam, and thicker fabric to keep you warm. All but one of these pairs beautifully with boots as well. You’ll also see a few of these styled multiple ways in my upcoming winter workwear capsule wardrobe.

Petite-Friendly Pants for Work
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Banana Republic Straight Everywhere Ponte Ankle Pant

This is a pull-on pair of pants with plenty of comfortable stretch. They feel like your favorite leggings, but the thicker fabric and seaming down the front and back give them a more polished look. In petite sizing, they have a 10″ rise and a 26.5″ inseam. I find they run snug through the waist and thighs, so I sized up for a better fit. The thicker fabric adds a bit of warmth, and they pair well with both flats and boots. You’ll see this pair styled multiple ways in my upcoming capsule post.

Banana Republic Crop Flare Everywhere Ponte Pull-On Pant

This pair is very similar to the straight style, but with a cropped flare. I chose standard sizing instead of petite, so they wouldn’t feel cropped, which gives them a perfect full-length fit on my frame. They have the same comfortable stretch as the pair above, and I love the rich brown color. I also sized up in these for the best fit, and they’ll be included in my capsule wardrobe as well.

Ann Taylor Perfect Wide Leg Pants
- 10″ Rise / 28.5″ Inseam (Petite 00 Curvy)
- 62% Polyester / 28% Viscose / 6% Elastane
I reach for these pants often in posts and capsule wardrobes because the fit works well on so many body types. They’re a slim, full-length wide-leg trouser that helps lengthen the leg, with a clean front and no pleats to add bulk. In standard sizing, they’re snug on my hips and thighs, but the curvy fit works perfectly for me in my true size.
In petite sizing, they have a 10″ rise and a 28.5″ inseam, which works well for me with a low heel, including heeled boots in the winter. They’re machine washable and will also be included in my winter capsule wardrobe.

J.Crew Kate Pants
- 10″ Rise / 26″ Inseam (Size Petite 0)
- 61% Polyester / 28% Viscose / 6% Elastane
The Kate Pants are a classic slim-straight style. While I personally love wide-leg silhouettes, many of my readers prefer a slim straight—in fact, it’s often the most popular style I share—so I had to include one here. This pair from J.Crew is on the pricier side, but the quality is excellent.
They have stretch similar to the ponte styles above, but feature belt loops and a more structured feel. I find they run small, so I recommend sizing up in this pair as well. I’ve included similar styles in capsule wardrobes in the past, but they don’t pair as easily with boots, so I’ll be saving them for a future season’s capsule.
If you’re looking for a more affordable alternative, the Kallie Pants from J.Crew Factory are a great option.
