Now that the holiday season is coming to a close, I’m shifting my focus to one of your favorite topics: workwear. I have several petite-friendly workwear posts planned through January, including a capsule wardrobe if I can find enough pieces in stock. In today’s post, I’m styling a pair of ponte pull-on pants I found at Banana Republic.

Comfortable Work Pants for Petites: Banana Republic Ponte Pull-On Pants
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
The High-Rise Wide-Leg Everywhere Ponte Pull-On Pant
I’m a big fan of Banana Republic Factory for the fit and the price point, but I recently decided to try a few pieces from Banana Republic—a brand I hadn’t shopped in quite some time. I was especially intrigued by their mid-rise options (something I don’t often find in dress pants) and the petite-friendly inseams.
I ordered a few pairs, found a couple of winners, and also noticed that their sizing runs quite small. In this post, I’m styling the High-Rise Wide-Leg Everywhere Ponte Pull-On Pant. They’re made from a stretchy, comfortable ponte fabric and have a pull-on design that feels similar to leggings.
While they’re technically a wide-leg style, they read more like a flare on my frame. In petite, they have a 10″ rise and a 29″ inseam, which works best with heels. I do recommend sizing up—I’m wearing Petite XXS here, but Petite XS would be a better fit for me.
I paired all of the outfits with heels, but these boots would also be perfect with them for more warmth.
Black & Burgundy for the Office
Black and burgundy is a classic combination. I styled the pants here with the Commuter Cardigan from Aritzia. It’s a beautiful knit sweater with a subtle peplum hem that adds a polished touch to the outfit. The fit is true to size—I’m wearing XXS—and while the sleeves run a bit long on me, they’re easy to cuff under for a cleaner, petite-friendly look.

Easy Pull-On Styling with a Cardigan
The pull-on style of these pants makes them especially easy to pair with an untucked top. I love styling cardigans with the bottom buttons undone, and this one from J.Crew comes styled that way. It’s made from 100% merino wool with a slim, polished fit. I’m wearing my true size here, though you could size up if you prefer a bit more room. The sleeves run slightly long on me, so I’ve cuffed them under for a cleaner, petite-friendly finish.

Soft Neutrals with Cashmere Layers
This cashmere combination from Quince is one I’ve loved for years. The oatmeal color is soft and neutral, and I love the ease and warmth of styling a wrap draped over the shoulders. It’s an effortless way to add polish while staying cozy. I’m wearing the sweater in size XS.

Burgundy & Chocolate Brown Layers
I love the rich combination of burgundy and chocolate brown—it’s warm, polished, and a little unexpected. My exact blazer is a crepe style from Ann Taylor, but it’s unfortunately sold out, so I’ve linked a similar option for you instead.

These ponte pull-on pants are a great foundation piece for building a petite-friendly workwear wardrobe. They’re comfortable enough for all-day wear but still look polished when styled with knits, cardigans, or structured layers. Whether you lean classic with black, warm things up with burgundy, or try an unexpected color combination, these pants are easy to style multiple ways. I’ll be sharing more petite-friendly workwear outfits and capsule-style pieces throughout January, so stay tuned for more ideas to refresh your work wardrobe.
