We’re from Richmond, Virginia; an area full of beautiful landmarks and rich with history. Referred to as the “river city” (for the James River that runs through it), Richmond is well known for its craft beer scene, amazing food and has even been voted the best river town in America by Outdoor Magazine. So if there is one thing we don’t have a shortage of, its places to to go when we want to spend time outdoors. But there is definitely one that tops our list and that is the beautiful Maymont park. Maymont is the historic estate of James and Sallie Dooley, who left their 100 acre estate to the city to be enjoyed for generations.
When you enter the park through the gorgeous iron gates, you’re greeted by cobblestone pathways and the historic carriage houses of Maymont mansion. You can saunter down the winding pathways through the gardens, our favorite being the Japanese gardens. Continuing on the path, you pass wildlife, streams and farm animals that you can feed.

Fatface, a UK based clothing line, sent us a few fabulous pieces to compliment a walk through our favorite spot! Brooke is wearing the Eva Four Pocket Jacket (c/o) . This jacket is seriously so warm, while still being lightweight, which makes it great for a walk through the park whatever the weather.
The wildlife and farm animal exhibits are a favorite for the kids. Who doesn’t love to feed a goat?!
Many weddings are held at the beautiful Maymont estate and of course, we’ve chosen Maymont for many blog photoshoots (here, here, here and here) and morning runs!

Erica is wearing FatFace’s Plain Ankle Wellies (c/o). These are probably the most lightweight and comfortable rain boots ever made, making it so easy to get out and enjoy the great outdoors even when you aren’t sure what the weather is going to do.
If you’re ever in the RVA area, we highly recommend visiting Maymont!
