If you’re looking for comfortable pants you can wear casually and to work, with petite-friendly proportions, you’re in the right place. In today’s post (and accompanying YouTube video!), I’m sharing three options that work well on my 4’10” frame and, depending on your proportions, may not require alterations.

Each pair offers a different silhouette—from straight leg to wide leg—and all three are machine washable, comfortable enough for all-day wear, and polished enough for work. As always, I’ll share the measurements, fit notes, and what I like (and don’t like) about each pair so you can decide which option is the best fit for your frame.

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

1. Banana Republic Factory Wide Leg High Rise Ponte Pants

I love these pants because they’re comfortable, but still polished. They have a a traditional button and zipper closure, pockets on the side and slash pockets on the back. They have the look of polished trousers, but feel like your favorite leggings.

The 10″ rise feels balanced on my petite frame, and the 27.5″ inseam is a great full-length option for wearing with flats or a low heel. They fit me true to size in Petite XXS and have enough stretch to stay comfortable throughout the day while maintaining their shape. They don’t wrinkle easily and wash and wear well.

This is a style that’s easy to wear with a wide range of shoes, ballet flats, loafers, sneakers, and boots.

2. Quince Ultra Stretch Ponte Cropped Wide Leg Pants

Fit Review

This pair is very soft and comfortable and I appreciate the 24″ inseam for being an option for a wide range of petites.

The biggest thing to note is the rise. At 11″, it’s quite high on my frame. It still works for me, but if you prefer a lower rise, that’s something to keep in mind.

The 24″ inseam is cropped on me, although depending on your proportions, they may hit closer to the ankle or full length. Since the leg opening is wide on this pair, you can wear them either cropped or full-length.

I’d say these run relatively true to size, but because they have a close stretch fit, I’d consider sizing up if you’re between sizes or prefer a little more room through the waist and hips.

A Similar Alternative

If you like this silhouette but would prefer a slightly lower rise and a longer inseam, take a look at the LOFT Palmer Pants. They have a very similar fit and feel with a 10″ rise and a 28″ inseam, making them another great ponte option for petites. The 28″ inseam is one I need a low heel with.

3. Quince Ultra Stretch Ponte Straight Leg Pants

Fit Review

Like the cropped Quince pants, these are soft and stretchy. They have a comfortable pull-on waistband, no zipper or button, but they also have belt loops so you can wear a belt and add a little polish.

They have a 10″ rise and a 26″ inseam in extra short. They come in five different inseam options and nine different colors!

They fit me true to size and maintain their shape well throughout the day while staying comfortable. They do have snug slim fit, similar to a pair of thick leggings with a straight leg.
