Oh, Hey Girl! I remember when Erica and I came up with the name for our weekly link-up 2-3 years ago (has it been that long?!) we liked the phrase “Oh, Hey Girl!” To us, the phase meant – girl, we like what you’re wearing and what you’re blogging; hey girl, you go ahead with your bad self! Over the years, I have loved seeing the posts that get shared here on the oh, hey girl link-up. Every girl has her own style, and I love drawing inspiration from it.

Some days, I look in the mirror and have those “oh, hey girl!” moments, I hope you do too. The days when you feel confident, pretty and unstoppable. Just like we are all unique and have our own style and tastes, the things that make us say, “oh, hey girl!” are unique too. So, what makes for my, oh, hey girl, mirror moments?
What Outfits Make Me Feel Confident? Say Oh, Hey Girl!
Color
My wardrobe is colorful. I always go for bright colors and prints over black and neutrals. This year I noticed that I barely own any black, isn’t that crazy?! Black is such a closet staple and is so chic. I don’t know why, but I tend to skip over black all of the time. So, this year I did make an effort to buy more neutral pieces; including black and gray. However, my heart will always lie with color and prints. A pretty print like the fall florals in this LOFT top make me say, oh hey girl! I first saw this top on Kaitlin, who I love to follow on Instagram. She styled it with an olive jacket, and in my shopping cart it went.
Comfort
I have to be comfortable. Years ago before the boys, I was on the more dressed up side, but that just isn’t practical anymore. I need comfort, that looks nice. When I feel like my outfit is the perfect combination of comfort and style, I do a little mirror dance. Don’t get me wrong, I love heels and outfits with a lot of layers and accessories, but they don’t always work for my day-to-day.
Modesty
Growing up my mom was big on my being modest. My shorts and skirts couldn’t be too short, tops too low, etc. Being short, it isn’t hard to avoid short hemlines, thankfully. As a teenager, I sometimes hated those rules, but as an adult, they’ve stuck with me. I have to be modest or I just don’t feel “right”. If it’s too short, too thin, too tight or too low cut, I have to skip it. When I put on an outfit that is modest, yet still catch my husband giving me those second looks, I get those oh, hey girl vibes.
Fit
Fit is one of the most important things to me, for an outfit that makes me feel confident. I bet a lot of women would agree. When you find a pair of jeans, a dress, a top, jacket etc. that fits just right, a happy dance follows. Not everything in my closet has that perfect fit, but the pieces I have that are the perfect fit, make me feel confident time after time.

Hailee Steinfeld’s “Most Girls” says it right, that no matter what makes you feel beautiful and confident, even if it’s different from someone else, is perfect! All girls are strong, and smart, and beautiful. What gives you those oh, hey girl moments?
