Wide leg jeans are such a fun style, but if you’re petite, the shoes you pair them with can totally change the look. The right shoes will make your legs look longer, while the wrong ones can feel a little heavy.
My rule? Go for shoes that are slim and sleek in profile. They balance out the volume of the jeans and keep everything looking streamlined. You can wear any color you love, but I usually lean toward lighter shades—they just make my legs look a little longer. Today I’m sharing my favorite shoes to wear with wide leg jeans if you’re petite: ballet flats, sneakers, loafers, and boots.

What Shoes to Wear With Wide Leg Jeans if You’re Petite
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Ballet Flats + Wide Leg Jeans
Ballet flats are probably the easiest shoe option for wide leg jeans. They’re lightweight, classic, and don’t add any extra bulk at your feet.
- I love a nude or neutral pair because they go with everything.
- A pointed toe flat will give you extra leg length, but a round toe is just as timeless.
- I usually skip flats with heavy straps or chunky details since they cut off the line of the leg.

Sneakers + Wide Leg Jeans
Yes—you can definitely wear sneakers with wide leg jeans. Just keep them sleek and not too chunky.
- Think Adidas Gazelles, Sambas, Converse, or Gola Elans/Badminton sneakers.
- I’m wearing the Gola Elan sneakers in the bone and white colorway in this post. They’re super comfy, true to size (starting at size 5), and the light color helps keep my legs looking longer.
- If you love color, go for it! Just stick to a slimmer profile.

Loafers + Wide Leg Jeans
If you want to make your outfit feel a little more polished, loafers are perfect.
- I usually go for a sleeker style, like the Sam Edelman Lorraine Loafers. They have a slightly elongated toe that makes your legs look longer.
- I avoid chunky loafers with big stitching or buckles because they tend to look heavy on petites.
- A streamlined loafer balances wide leg jeans without overwhelming your frame.

Boots + Wide Leg Jeans
Boots are my go-to in the fall and winter, and they work really well with wide leg jeans—if you pick the right style.
- A pointed or almond-shaped toe makes your legs look longer.
- My current favorite is the Stevie Boots from J.Crew. They have a super low heel that feels like a flat, but the shape keeps them looking sleek.
- I’d skip round-toe boots with wide leg jeans since they can hide under the jeans and shorten your legs. If you love Chelsea boots, I think they work better with straight leg jeans.

So there you have it—my go-to shoe pairings for wide leg jeans if you’re petite. Ballet flats, slim sneakers, loafers, and pointed-toe boots all work really well. The key is keeping things sleek so the jeans stay the star and your legs look nice and long.
