Finding knee-high boots that work for petites can feel nearly impossible. If you’re on the shorter side, the shaft height often ends up hitting at the wrong spot, and if you wear a size 5 shoe, the search is even harder. So many brands don’t start below a size 6, especially the less expensive brands, which adds another layer of struggle when you’re trying to find the perfect fit.
I tried and returned several knee-high boots to round up a few petite-friendly knee-high boots I’ve personally tried and loved. These boots start at a size 5, have a shaft height of 15″ or under, and work well for petite proportions.

Petite-Friendly Knee-High Boots
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

The Perfect Shaft Height for Petites
When it comes to shaft height, I wouldn’t consider any height to be perfect for all petites. On average, petites usually do best with boots that are 14-15″ and under. Anything taller often hits awkwardly at or above the knee, which can make legs look shorter.
For reference, I have average proportions for my height, and these boots work really well for me. But unfortunately, they may not be a great fit for all petites—especially if you have shorter legs in proportion to your torso. If that’s you, you may want to look for boots closer to the 13–12″ range instead. Of course, that height is even harder to come by, but occasionally I find them and will share if I do!
Franco Sarto Jasmine Boots
If you like a western-inspired boot, the Franco Sarto Jasmine Boots are such a fun option.
- Style notes: They have a pointed toe, chunky heel, and come in five color options. I’m wearing the Umber Brown Suede.
- Fit: At the highest point the shaft measures 15″, but it dips down in the front and back to about 13.9″. The shaft circumference is slim at 14.6″, which fits my average calves comfortably.
- Material: The leather is soft but substantial, so they hold their shape really well.
- Why they work for petites: The dipped shaft keeps them from overwhelming shorter legs, while the pointed toe elongates the line of your legs.

Sam Edelman Sylvia Boots
The Sam Edelman Sylvia Boots are one of my favorite pairs for wearing with dresses and skirts—they’re just a little more polished than western styles.
- Style notes: They’re sleek, with a pointed toe and slim shaft. They’re available in suede (my favorite) and leather.
- Fit: The website lists a 14.1″ shaft height, but I measured my size 5 suede pair and they’re right at 15″. The shaft circumference is 14.1″, but they also come in wide and extra wide options.
- Petite tip: Shaft height increases as the shoe size goes up, so this pair may not be perfect for all petites. On me, the 15″ shaft hits right at my knees. In suede, they’re soft and flexible, so I don’t mind the height. In leather, they were less comfortable because the stiff material rubbed at my knees.
- Why they work for petites: They start at size 5, and the slim fit creates a long, lean look—just keep in mind the shaft height changes with size.

Duo Boots Haltham Boots
If you want something close to custom, the Haltham Boots from Duo Boots are worth the investment.
- Style notes: These are classic knee-high boots with a clean, polished design that you can wear with anything from jeans to dresses.
- Fit: Duo offers petite, regular, and tall shaft heights, plus nine calf circumference options. The petite version has a 14″ shaft height, which is perfect for petites.
- Sizing tip: You’ll need to measure your calf circumference to get the right fit. I recommend going up to the next cm option from your measurement for a comfortable fit.
- Quality: They’re true to size, very well made, and although they’re on the pricier side, they feel like a long-term investment.
- Why they work for petites: Having the ability to choose your shaft height and calf circumference means you get a near-custom fit—something that’s hard to find anywhere else.
