Every season I share capsule wardrobes to help you build a foundation of pieces you can wear for years to come. My Fall 2025 Workwear Capsule Wardrobe for Petites is a curated collection of 21 pieces that can be styled into 30+ outfits for everything from casual Fridays to business professional days.

I built this capsule with three things in mind:

  1. A true petite fit – Every piece is shown unaltered on me at 4’10”. I’ve included sizing notes, rise, and inseam measurements for each bottom so you can compare your sizing to mine.
  2. Classic foundations – I focused on timeless pieces that will carry you through many seasons. To mix things up, you can add in more basic tops in complimentary colors, printed tops or detailed blouses to these essentials.
  3. Versatility for all dress codes – Since my readers work in a variety of environments, this capsule sits right in the middle. You can dress these pieces up for a business professional look or dress them down for a casual office with jeans.

This capsule includes 5 tops, 3 layering pieces, 6 bottoms, and 7 shoes and accessories, creating more than 30 outfit combinations for fall.

Fall 2025 Workwear Capsule Wardrobe for Petites

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

Tops (5 Pieces)

1. Cotton Cashmere Top – Quince (Black) XS

This top has a polished slim fit that works on its own or layered under jackets and blazers. It’s overall true to size. | 65% organic cotton, 32% ecovero viscose, 3% cashmere (less expensive option)

2. Cashmere V-Neck Sweater – Quince (Oatmeal) XS

I chose this sweater for the soft neutral color and v-neck. The v-neck layers nicely with a button down but also looks great as a base layer. It is slightly oversized with sleeves I cuff. For a sweater with a better fit and sleeves that don’t need to be cuffed, try this option from J.Crew. This sweater also looks beautiful with this matching wrap. | 100% cashmere (less expensive option)

3. Short Sleeve Cashmere Sweater – Quince (Rich Burgundy) XS

I always like to include a short sleeve sweater because it’s polished, layers easily under blazers, and works well for transitional weather. This one is true to size overall and comes in several colors that would pair nicely with the capsule pieces. | 100% cashmere (less expensive option)

4. White Button-Down – J.Crew Factory Petite XXS

I chose this top because it has a slim, tailored fit that tucks in easily, but also looks nice on it’s own. It’s a little sheer, so I recommend a nude bra underneath. | 100% cotton (less expensive option)

5. Long Sleeve White Top – Quince XS

This long sleeve top is a perfect basic. It’s true to size, just a touch long through the sleeves. It’s not see-through and has a clean, polished fit. It’s perfect for layering or wearing alone. | 91% organic cotton, 9% spandex

Layering Pieces (3 Pieces)

1. Duster Cardigan – Amazon (Apricort) XS

This duster cardigan is great for transitional weather, or a cold office. It’s stretchy, feels well made and looks pollished. It’s a little bit oversized on me and I need to cuff the sleeves, but it’s an overall great Amazon find. The color is tricky, it’s “apricort” which is the first option on the color list. It doesn’t quite look the same online as it does in person. | 50% viscose, 30% nylon, 20% PBT

2. Plaid Blazer – Banana Republic Factory Petite 00

This plaid blazer is a returning favorite from last season’s capsule wardrobe. The blazer is thick and warm with a wool feel. It is fully lined so I don’t note any issues with it being itchy. The blazer has a boxy modern cut. The sleeves just touch my hands—not a perfect tailored fit, but close enough for petites. I like to wear the sleeves pushed back. | 57% polyester, 39% wool, 34% other fibers – machine washable

3. Madelyn Blazer – J.Crew Petite 00

J.Crew is my go-to for a perfect fitting blazer. The Madelyn blazer is beautifully tailored with a perfect petite fit through the shoulders and sleeves. It has a long modern fit with a drawn in waist for shape. In my true size, it’s a slim fit, but it still has some room to layer underneath. | 61% recycled polyester/28% viscose/6% elastane/5% polyester – dry clean (less expensive option)

Bottoms (6 Pieces)

1. Perfect Wide Leg Pants – Ann Taylor Petite 00 Curvy Fit

These pants have a clean flat front and a slim wide leg that my readers love. They are overall true to size, but if you’re pear-shaped like me, the curvy fit is the best fit. They have a 10.5″ rise and 28.5″ inseam which only works on my height low heels or heeled boots. (I included this pair in my winter capsule last season). | 62% Polyester, 34% Viscose, 4% Spandex – machine washable (less expensive option)

2. Wide Leg Jeans – Madewell Petite 24

I always include a pair of jeans in my workwear capsule for my readers who only wear jeans to work, or need ideas for what to wear on casual Fridays. I typically go with straight jeans, but chose a wide leg style instead this year. These are the same jeans I featured in my casual capsule—they’re true to size, soft, stretchy, and hold their shape, even through hours of sitting at your desk. They have dark wash and a slim wide leg that is still professional. In petite they have a 10.5″ rise and a 28″ inseam that works with flats or a low heel. If you prefer straight jeans, try the Bella Straight Jeans from Quince. For a less expensive wide leg option, the Bella Wide Leg Jeans from Quince are great. | 81% cotton/6% recycled polyester/3% elastane | (more wide leg jeans here)

3. Gap 365 Trousers – Bordeaux Purple Petite 00

I chose to include the 365 Trousers from Gap because of their 28″ inseam and comfortable fit. They have a generous pleated wide leg, 11″ rise, and 28″ inseam. I love the color and the fact that they work w’;[[p””n ell with flats, so they can be a more casual option. If you need a shorter inseam, the Versa Palazzo Pants from LOFT (27.5″) are a great alternative. (You can find more wide leg trouser options in this post.)

4. Slim Straight Pants – Gap Petite XS

These are classic ponte straight-leg pants with a 24.5″ inseam and 10.5″ rise. The fabric is stretchy and thick, making them very comfortable. I find them to run a little bit large, so I recommend a size down. The Cameron Pants at J.Crew are another great option. I recommend a size up in that pair.

5. Hayden Pants – Banana Republic Factory Petite 00

I chose the Hayden pants for the comfort, color, and reader feedback. They have a clean front and a comfortable stretch waist. The lightweight drapey fabric is comfortable to wear, and I just love the Auburn color. In petite, they have a 10″ rise and a 29″ inseam. The inseam is one I can only wear with heels. (You can see them styled in this post with boots).

6. Pleated Skirt – Amazon Small (Brown)

A pleated skirt is a classic, and this one from Amazon has stood the test of time for me. It’s overall true to size. This skirt comes in XS, but it’s hard to find, so I often purchase it in small, and it still fits, thanks to the stretchy waist. It’s fully lined and washes well. I just wash it in the washing machine, hang it to dry and steam any wrinkles out vertically with the pleats.

Shoes & Accessories (7 Pieces)

I kept accessories simple and versatile:

For the colder season you can add in these boots from J.Crew (or a pair with a similar look) and this coat.
