Lately I’ve been getting a lot of requests for summer work outfits with sleeves, tops that don’t need to be tucked in, and outfits that work with comfortable shoes. As much as I love a polished office look, I know not everyone wants to spend their day adjusting a tucked-in shirt or wearing heels.

So for this post, I built four petite-friendly summer work outfits around those requests. Most of the outfits feature tops with sleeves and silhouettes that look great untucked, but I did include one sleeveless option for those who work in warmer offices or simply prefer it during the summer months. You’ll also find a mix of pants that can be worn with flats or a low heel depending on your office dress code and personal style.

4 Summer Work Outfits for Petites

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

Cropped Wide-Leg Pants and a Waist-Tie Top

For the first outfit, I paired Ann Taylor’s Grace pants with a waist-tie top and wedge heels.

These pants are a great option for petites because the proportions work so well right off the rack. They feature a high 10.5″ rise and a 25″ inseam in petite sizing, creating a cropped relaxed straight pants.

I’m wearing the pants in Curvy Petite 00. With my 24″ waist and 36″ hips, I find the curvy fit true to size with just a little extra room through the hips. I actually appreciate the added ease because it prevents the fabric from feeling clingy. The material is substantial with plenty of stretch, making them comfortable for a full day at work.

I paired them with a top that ties at the waist and has sleeves. The waist detail creates shape without requiring a tuck. The top is also lightweight with stretch so it’s great for hot weather.

A Polished Seersucker Dress

A dress is one of the easiest ways to get dressed for work during the summer, and this seersucker option from Ann Taylor is a great one.

The dress has a polished, tailored fit while still feeling comfortable in warm weather. I especially appreciate the full coverage at both the front and back neckline, making it appropriate for a professional setting without needing additional layers.

As someone with wider hips for my frame, I often struggle with dresses fitting properly through the hip area. This one skims nicely without feeling restrictive or pulling across my hips.

I’m wearing Petite 00 and find it true to size. The textured seersucker fabric gives the dress a classic summer feel while helping it maintain a polished appearance throughout the day.

Slim Ankle Pants and a Cropped Wrap Top

For the third outfit, I paired cream slim ankle pants with a cropped wrap top.

These pants feature a high 10.5″ rise and a 25″ inseam in petite sizing, creating a clean ankle-length silhouette that’s perfect for work.

One of my favorite features is that they’re fully lined. The lining makes the light color more forgiving and helps prevent transparency issues that can sometimes happen with cream or ivory pants.

The fabric is a machine-washable crepe made from polyester, which means they’re resistant to wrinkles and easy to maintain.

I paired them with a cropped wrap-style top that fits me well in my true size. Because the top is cropped, I wear a camisole underneath so I don’t have to worry about my midsection showing when reaching or lifting my arms. It’s an easy solution that keeps the outfit office-appropriate while still enjoying the flattering wrap silhouette.

White Trousers and a Navy Wrap Top

For the final outfit, I went with a classic combination that works year-round: white trousers and a navy top.

These white trousers feature a 10.5″ rise and a 28.5″ inseam in petite sizing. On my 4’10” frame, I need to wear a low heel with this length. You’ve seen these pants styled many times on my blog, including in a capsule.

I’m wearing the standard petite fit here, but I could also comfortably wear the curvy fit in my true size for a little extra room through the hips and less puckering across that area.

To complete the outfit, I paired them with a textured navy wrap-style top from Banana Republic Factory. I love that this top has sleeves and doesn’t require tucking. The wrap design creates shape and interest while maintaining a polished, professional appearance.
