Finding the perfect pair of pants for your height and proportions is a challenge for almost everyone, including petites. I share a wide range of petite-friendly pants and jeans in different price points, rises, styles, and inseams, and every time I post a roundup someone is still searching for something a little different. So I’ll keep sharing the variety because petite bodies and preferences aren’t one-size-fits-all.
In today’s post, I’m sharing four pairs of casual summer pants for petites with a mix of mid-rise and high-rise fits. These breezy wide-leg styles have petite-friendly inseams starting at 25″ and going up to 28.5″, making them easy options for staying comfortable and cool throughout the summer.

4 Breezy Wide-Leg Summer Pants for Petites With Mid & High Rise Fits
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Any measurements provided are taken from the exact size and color I’m wearing in the post. Fit and measurements may vary by size and may differ from what you see on the brand website.
How to Understand Rise & Inseam Measurements
I share rise and inseam measurements because proportions vary from person to person and aren’t standard based on height alone. My hope is that these measurements help you gauge how the pants may fit on your frame rather than basing the fit entirely on how they fit me. Chances are, we can be the same height but have different proportions, and that will absolutely affect the fit and length.
Rise is the measurement from the crotch seam to the top of the waistband and helps determine where pants will sit on your waist. Inseam is the measurement from the crotch seam down to the hem and determines the pant length. To measure your own pair, lay the pants flat and use a measuring tape along those seams.
Marine Layer Allison Hemp Crop Trouser
Fit Notes:
- Size worn: XS
- Rise: 11″
- Inseam: 25″
- Overall fit: true to size – I’m typically XXS, but I can wear XS in this pair, with a relaxed fit
Fabric + Feel:
- 54% hemp, 44% TENCEL™ lyocell, 2% spandex
I love the fit and feel of the Allison Crop Trousers from Marine Layer. The pants are made from a hemp and Tencel blend that has the lightweight feel of cotton or linen, but feels softer and wrinkles far less. I wore these at my desk all day and then relaxed on the couch in them later, and they still had minimal wrinkling by the end of the day. The fabric is just lovely.
They aren’t sheer, but I do recommend wearing nude underwear close to your skin tone for the best coverage. These are definitely an investment pair, but honestly, they’re a 10/10 for me.

LOFT Petite Pull-On Wide Leg Pants in Striped Linen Cotton
Fit Notes:
- Size worn: Petite XXS
- Rise: 10″
- Inseam: 27.5″
- Overall fit: true to size
Fabric + Feel:
- 55% Linen 45% Cotton
I’ll admit, I hadn’t been shopping at LOFT as much in recent years. I would occasionally browse in store or online, but usually walked away not all that impressed. This season, though, I feel like they’re really back. I’ve been finding quite a few pieces I love there lately, especially when it comes to pants.
This pull-on style is a cotton and linen blend that feels lightweight and breathable for summer. I especially love the flat front because it keeps the pants from looking too puffy through the waist like some drawstring styles can. They do have elastic at the back though, so they’re still very comfortable to wear. In petite, they have a 10″ rise and a 27.5″ inseam, which is a length I can personally wear comfortably with flats.

A&F Gemma Crinkle Wide Leg Pull-On Pant
Fit Notes:
- Size worn: XXS Short
- Rise: 11″
- Inseam: 28.5″
- Overall fit: true to size – generous wide leg
Fabric + Feel:
- 85% viscose, 15% nylon – machine washable, do not iron – steam wrinkles
The Gemma Crinkle Pants from Abercrombie have a 28.5″ inseam, which is a touch too long for me with flats, but they look great with heels. The fabric is lightweight and drapey, and the pants are fully lined. I love the texture of the fabric, and this drawstring style would be easy to dress up for a dinner out or vacation evenings.

Nic + Zoe Fairfield Gauze Ankle Wide Leg Pants
Fit Notes:
- Size worn: Petite P (I could have sized up for more room across my hips)
- Rise: 9″
- Inseam: 25.5″
- Overall fit: true to size
- The measurements listed on the Nordstrom site don’t match the pair I tried. The measurements I shared are from the exact pair I’m wearing in Petite P. My guess is that the measurements online may be for the standard sizing rather than petite. It’s also possible the rise increases slightly in larger sizes, but on my frame these pants sat just below my belly button.
Fabric + Feel:
- 80% cotton, 20% rayon
Over the years, I’ve found a handful of brands I can usually rely on for a good petite fit, but recently I’ve been trying to branch out and test brands at both higher and lower price points than I typically shop. Nic + Zoe is one of the higher-end brands I’ve been trying, and so far I’ve been really impressed with what I’ve found.
The Fairfield Gauze Pants have a soft cotton and rayon blend with a lightweight gauze feel that’s perfect for summer. Although they appear high rise online, I found them to fit more like a mid-rise style with a 9″ rise. On my frame, they sit just below my belly button.
My typical size is Petite XXS, and I tried these in Petite P. They fit overall, but were a touch snug across my hips, so I could have comfortably gone up one size. They also have a petite-friendly 25.5″ inseam that may fit cropped or full length depending on your proportions and height.

Whether you prefer a shorter cropped inseam, a true full-length fit, or a mid-rise over a higher rise, I hope this roundup gives you a few new options to try this summer. One thing I’ve learned after years of trying petite pants is that the “perfect” fit really comes down to your individual proportions and personal preference. That’s why I always try to share detailed measurements and fit notes alongside how the pants fit on my frame.
A high-rise style will probably always be my first choice for my proportions, but I know many of my readers prefer or need a mid-rise fit, so I’ll keep working to find and share those options as well. I also think it’s interesting to see how similar these breezy wide-leg styles can look on my frame despite the inseams ranging from 25″ all the way up to 28.5″.
All four of these styles are lightweight, comfortable, and easy to wear throughout the summer. From gauze fabrics to linen blends and relaxed pull-on styles, each pair feels casual and effortless while still looking polished enough for everyday wear, travel days, or casual dinners out.
