I’ve recently shared several business casual outfit ideas, but not every workplace requires tailored trousers and structured dresses. If your office leans more casual, it can be helpful to have outfit ideas that feel comfortable and approachable while still looking put together.
Today I’m sharing four casual work outfits that work well on my 4’10” petite frame. These looks incorporate comfortable shoes, jeans, easy dresses, and skirts that strike the balance between relaxed and polished.
For size reference, I’m 4’10” with measurements of 32-24-36 and typically wear Petite XXS or 00.
Outfit 1: Cropped Wide-Leg Jeans, Cashmere Tee, and Blazer
This first outfit is a great example of how denim can work in a casual office setting while still looking polished.
I’m wearing J.Crew Factory’s cropped wide-leg jeans. While they are available in petite sizing, I chose the standard version because I preferred the slightly longer length. They fit true to size overall and are an easy option for casual workplaces. I also own them in a lighter wash and love those as well, though it’s worth noting that this darker wash fits slightly differently. My light pair has a true 26.5″ inseam, and this pair has a 27″ inseam.
For layering, I added the White House Black Market Stretch Blazer. This blazer combines structure with comfort. The fabric has plenty of stretch while still maintaining a polished shape, and the petite fit is excellent.
Underneath, I’m wearing Quince’s Vintage Pink Cashmere Tee in XS. This sweater has all the comfort of a t-shirt while looking much more polished. I wear it year-round and find it layers beautifully under blazers and jackets.
To finish the look, I added a pair of Sam Edelman loafers. They’re soft, comfortable right out of the box, and easy to wear throughout the workday.
Fit Notes
- J.Crew Factory Cropped Wide-Leg Jeans: true to size / 10.5″ rise / 27″ inseam
- Available in petite and standard sizing
- WHBM Stretch Blazer: excellent petite fit
- Quince Cashmere Tee: XS
- Sam Edelman loafers: comfortable immediately

Outfit 2: White Poplin Skirt and Pointelle Sweater
For a softer summer outfit, I paired a white cotton poplin skirt with a lightweight sweater.
The J.Crew cotton poplin skirt is a versatile summer basic. It’s made from 100% cotton, has functional pockets, and fits true to size. Although it’s available in petite sizing, I actually prefer the standard version because I like the slightly longer length. The skirt is unlined and somewhat sheer, so I recommend wearing a slip underneath.
I paired it with a short-sleeve pointelle sweater from J.Crew. The delicate knit texture adds interest while still feeling lightweight enough for warmer weather. The cardigan does run small, so I would suggest sizing up for the best fit.
For shoes, I chose ballet flats. They’re comfortable for walking around the office while still adding a touch of polish. Sandals or a low heel would work equally well.
Fit Notes
- J.Crew Cotton Poplin Skirt: XXS, true to size
- 100% cotton
- Slightly sheer; add a slip
- Functional pockets
- J.Crew Pointelle Sweater: size up

Outfit 3: Wide-Leg Jeans and Cotton Gauze Top
This is the most relaxed outfit of the group and a great option for casual offices or work-from-home days.
I paired the same J.Crew Factory cropped wide-leg jeans with Quince’s cotton gauze top. Made from 100% cotton, this top is lightweight, breathable, and comfortable for summer.
The fit is slightly oversized, which gives it an effortless look without overwhelming my petite frame. I’m wearing XS and find it drapes nicely while still maintaining shape.
One of my readers told me she loves wearing this top while working from home, and I completely understand why. It’s the kind of piece that feels comfortable enough for all-day wear while still looking presentable on video calls.

Outfit 4: Navy Willa Dress and Ballet Flats
For the final outfit, I went with an easy one-and-done dress.
The navy Willa Dress from J.Crew Factory is an easy casual summer dress option. I’ve also tried the midi version, but this above-the-knee style works especially well on my petite frame.
Although it doesn’t come in petite sizing, the standard size 00 fits me beautifully and hits at a flattering length. The dress is made from 100% cotton, making it lightweight and breathable for summer. It is unlined, so depending on your preferences, you may want to add a slip underneath.
I paired it with simple ballet flats to keep the look comfortable and office-appropriate.
Fit Notes
- Wearing size 00
- True to size
- 100% cotton
- Unlined
- Petite-friendly length despite standard sizing

Final Thoughts
Casual workplaces offer a little more flexibility when it comes to getting dressed, but that doesn’t mean sacrificing polish entirely. These four outfits combine comfortable fabrics, petite-friendly fits, and easy-to-wear pieces that feel appropriate for relaxed office environments.
