One of the easiest ways to get more wear out of your wardrobe is by remixing pieces you already own into new outfits. Many of the items featured in today’s post have appeared in recent workwear posts, but pairing them differently creates fresh looks that feel completely new.
If you’re building a petite-friendly wardrobe, investing in versatile pieces that work across multiple outfits is one of the best ways to maximize your closet. Today I’m sharing four summer outfit ideas using some of the same skirts, tops, blazers, and pants I’ve featured recently, styled in new combinations.
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Outfit 1: WHBM Handkerchief Skirt and Chocolate Brown Dolman Top
This outfit combines two soft, neutral pieces for an easy summer look that works for everything from the office to dinner out.
The handkerchief hem skirt from White House Black Market is one of those pieces that looks even better in person. The print combines shades of brown, black, and gold, making it surprisingly versatile and easy to style with a variety of tops. I’m wearing Petite XXS, and the fit is true to size. The skirt is unlined but not sheer, which keeps it lightweight and comfortable for summer.
I paired it with White House Black Market’s chocolate brown dolman top. The drape of this top works beautifully with skirts, but it does run large. If you’re between sizes, I would recommend sizing down.
Fit Notes
- WHBM Handkerchief Hem Skirt: Petite XXS, true to size
- Unlined but not sheer
- WHBM Dolman Top: runs large

Outfit 2: White Poplin Skirt, Cashmere Tee, and Stretch Blazer
This outfit blends casual and polished pieces for a look that feels effortless but put together.
The J.Crew cotton poplin skirt is made from 100% cotton and features functional pockets. Although it’s available in petite sizing, I prefer the standard version because I like the additional length. It fits true to size, but it is unlined and slightly sheer, so I recommend wearing a slip underneath.
For the top, I added Quince’s Vintage Rose Cashmere Tee in XS. This sweater has the comfort of a t-shirt while looking more polished, making it an easy piece to wear year-round.
To finish the look, I layered on the White House Black Market Stretch Blazer. The blazer offers plenty of stretch while maintaining structure, and the petite fit is excellent.
Fit Notes
- J.Crew Cotton Poplin Skirt: XXS, true to size
- 100% cotton
- Slightly sheer; add a slip
- Quince Cashmere Tee: XS
- WHBM Stretch Blazer: excellent petite fit

Outfit 3: White Wide-Leg Pants, Satin Top, and Cropped Blazer
This outfit feels polished enough for work but light enough for summer.
The Wide Leg Pants from Ann Taylor work well on a petite frame. I’m wearing Petite 00, and they fit true to size. They feature a 10″ rise and a 28.5″ inseam, making them best worn with a heel on my height.
The fabric isn’t see-through, although you can see the outline of the white pocket bags through the front. I mention this because some readers dislike that.
I paired them with the satin petal sleeve top from White House Black Market. The petal sleeves add a feminine detail and look beautiful on their own, but the top runs large. I’m wearing XXS and still find it slightly roomy.
The cropped blazer from White House Black Market is the perfect finishing layer. The shorter length works especially well with high-rise trousers, and the proportions are spot on for petites.
Fit Notes
- Ann Taylor Wide Leg Pants: Petite 00, true to size
- 10″ rise, 28.5″ inseam
- WHBM Satin Petal Top: XXS, runs large
- WHBM Cropped Blazer: true to size with excellent petite proportions

Outfit 4: Anthropologie Pleated Skirt and Aritzia Regal Vest
For the final outfit, I paired two pieces that create a polished look with minimal effort.
The pleated skirt from Anthropologie features a soft neutral polka dot print that works beautifully for summer. Although it isn’t offered in petite sizing, it fits me well in my true size 00 and drapes nicely on a shorter frame.
On top, I added Aritzia’s Regal Vest. This vest is exceptionally well proportioned for petites and works especially well with high-waisted skirts and pants. I did size up because it runs small, but once sized correctly, the fit is excellent.
Together, these pieces create a tailored look that’s polished enough for work but still comfortable during warmer weather.
Fit Notes
- Anthropologie Pleated Skirt: Size 00, true to size
- Aritzia Regal Vest: size up, runs small
- Petite-friendly proportions
