Drawstring jeans are the relaxed, lightweight denim style that summer calls for. In this post, I’ve rounded up three petite-friendly options, each with a different inseam, fabric weight, and features—from easy pull-on styles to more traditional button-and-fly closures.

Petite-Friendly Drawstring Jeans
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
J.Crew Factory Drawstring Jeans
- Rise: 10”

This pair is a lightweight, pull-on style that’s perfect for warmer weather. The 10” rise is considered high-rise, but on my frame it sits a bit lower and more relaxed, reading closer to a mid-rise fit.
I reviewed two drawstring styles from J.Crew Factory, and this one has the shorter inseam of the two. Overall, it’s the better fit for me and works well proportionally for petites.

J.Crew Factory Light-Feel Drawstring Jeans

- Fabric: 60% cotton, 40% lyocell
This pair is labeled “light-feel” and is lightweight, though not significantly lighter than the drawstring style shared above.
It features two large front pockets and a slightly longer 28” inseam. Between the two styles from J.Crew Factory, this one isn’t the best fit for my frame. The leg is slimmer, and since the rise sits a bit lower and more relaxed on me, the extra length makes them just a touch too long.
I wanted to include this pair so you can see how it compares to the other J.Crew Factory drawstring style. Between the two, I prefer the original drawstring option for a better overall fit and proportion on petites.

Gap Factory Drawstring Wide Leg Crop

- Inseam: 25” (Short)
- Size Worn: 24 Short (true to size)
- Fabric: 98% cotton, 2% elastane
Of the three options, this pair is my favorite. They’re lightweight but have a button-and-fly closure, which gives them a more structured, flattering shape.
They also have the shortest inseam at 25” in the short length, which works really well for petites. I prefer the slightly higher 10.5” rise on my frame—it helps create a more elongated look.
The drawstring does allow for a bit of waist adjustment, but it’s mostly decorative on this pair.
