Mini Capsule Wardrobe for Summer (10 Items, 15+ Outfits)

I’m back with another mini capsule wardrobe, this time focused on easy, petite-friendly summer outfits. I built this capsule around the basics I reach for most—like denim and linen shorts—and added a few statement tops to bring in variety.

In the summer, layering isn’t as essential, so I rely on simple bottoms and let tops do the work. To make this capsule more versatile, I also included a pair of jeans and a lightweight cardigan for cooler evenings and that in-between spring-to-summer weather.

Mini Capsule Wardrobe for Summer (10 Items, 15+ Outfits)

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

15+ Capsule Outfits

The outfits are made up of simple combinations I actually wear—nothing overly styled or impractical. They’re easy, everyday looks that work for a busy, on-the-go lifestyle, with a focus on pieces that fit well.

I also brought back two pairs of shoes and a couple of bags from previous capsules to show how you can keep restyling what you already own—no need to constantly buy new accessories when you have a few reliable favorites.

Madewell The Perfect Vintage Mid-Length Jean Short: 25 sized up

The Perfect Vintage Mid-Length Shoes from Madewell have a modest 5″ inseam and a high rise. They run small, so I recommend sizing up. These shorts are 99% cotton, they’re rigid with light stretch.

Quince 100% European Linen Trouser Shorts: 0 in flax

a polished, structured option with a button and zipper closure. They also have a stretch panel at the back waistband for added comfort. These are a top pick for me when it comes to tailored linen shorts—they’re fully lined, and the lining is sewn in, so they don’t wrinkle excessively in the wash. They’re true to size and have a 3.25″ inseam. These shorts are 100% linen.

J.Crew Factory Cropped Wide-Leg Jeans: 24 in spring storm wash

I opted for the regular length in these jeans, which has a 26.5″ inseam. If you need a shorter length, they’re also available in a petite option.

I’ve put these jeans through a wear test and really love the fit. They do relax and loosen slightly with wear—not in a baggy way, but enough to give them a more relaxed look by the end of the day. If you prefer denim that holds its shape tightly all day, that’s something to keep in mind.

Personally, I love the fit. Although they’re technically a wide-leg style, they give more of a flare jean look on me. They’re true to size, and I’m wearing them in the Spring Storm wash.

These jeans are 99% cotton, so I plan to hang them to dry.

Quince Cotton Cashmere Ribbed Tank: XS in mountain spring blue

I love the boatneck tank tops from Quince. This cotton-cashmere blend is ribbed, slightly thicker, and has a polished, elevated look. It’s true to size and fits me well at the arm openings.

Quince Organic Cotton Relaxed Oxford Shirt: XS

I chose this top for the capsule because I personally love wearing it. It’s relaxed and roomy, made from 100% organic cotton, so it’s comfortable and breathable. The oversized fit works well tucked in, but also looks great worn untucked for a more relaxed feel. Since it’s an oxford fabric, it’s less wrinkle-prone and easier to wear than cotton poplin.

Gap Lace Voile Peplum Crop Top: Petite XS

This peplum top has a cropped fit that pairs well with high-rise bottoms and feels balanced on petites. The V-neck isn’t too low, and it fits me well at the arm openings. It’s 100% cotton and slightly sheer, so I wear it over a camisole.

Gap Linen-Blend Embroidered Crop Shell Tank Top: XXS

This cropped top is a linen blend with a fit that works especially well for petites. I love the eyelet detail and the color. It fits me well through the chest and at the arm openings. The embroidery is open, but the eyelets are placed in a way that you can wear it with a nude bra without it feeling too revealing. I’ll be wearing mine over a camisole, so I styled it both ways in the capsule—with and without a layer underneath.

Old Navy SoSoft Lite Cropped Pointelle Cardigan: Petite XS

I’ve been loving classic cropped cardigans this season. They’re nothing new, but the cropped fit is easy to style—worn open, buttoned, or draped over your shoulders. I included a pointelle option from Old Navy in this capsule for a little added detail. It’s soft and well-priced.

2 Shoes

Dolce Vita Kenley Sandals TTS

These are a true-to-size, go-with-everything pair of sandals. There is definitely a break-in period, though. At first, they were quite uncomfortable across my toes and ankles, and I wasn’t sure I could fully recommend them. However, after wearing them for a while, the straps softened and loosened, and they’re now much more comfortable.

J. Crew Factory Woven Ballet Flats TTS

These neutral ballet flats add a little interest with their textured finish. They fit true to size and were comfortable right out of the box, with no break-in period needed. If these are sold out in your size, this pair is similar:
