So there’s this dress, a navy shift dress to be exact that was delivered to our Pumps and Push-Ups stock room while I was still pregnant. I snagged one, took it home and waited for the day I could wear it. That day has come. Yes, ladies, the baby bump is no longer and we now have a sweet baby boy in our home! Slipping into this dress made me feel like myself again, I put on a little makeup, grabbed my favorite wedges and thanked heaven that the dress was forgiving enough to hide my post baby bump.
But, back to the baby, it has been three weeks since he joined our household and I have to say although there are some telltale signs of a newborn in our midst, the second baby has been much easier than bringing home our first baby. Physically, the labor and delivery were shorter and recovery has been much shorter. Around week two I started to feel more like myself and although I still have that little is there another baby in there bump, I’m slowly making a return back to my old physique. As far as caring for the little guy, he is such an easy going baby. I am more confident now caring for a newborn than I was my first time around of course, but my first baby had reflux and colic and cried most of the day and night, so having a baby that rarely makes a peep even when you’re giving him a bath has made it seem so easy! Now, don’t get me wrong, I am still tired, which you can tell by my puffy eyes and my hands are excessively dry from over washing them, because yes, I am that mom. He wakes up once every 1-2 hours to eat and when you’re talking about newborns that means an instant poop too, so I get the diapers out, sleep for what feels like 20 minutes and start over again. This time, I know it’s only temporary, so instead of crying in tired agony every time he wakes me at night, I try to smile at his little baby bird faces and grab another cup of coffee.
