4 Summer Tops You Don't Need to Tuck In

One of the most common requests I get from readers is for tops that look polished without needing to be tucked in. As a petite, finding tops that hit at the right spot can be challenging.

The good news is that there are plenty of tops that look intentional worn untucked. Whether it’s a peplum hem, tiered silhouette, or a top designed with the right proportions, these styles make getting dressed easy while still looking put together.

Today I’m sharing four summer tops that work beautifully untucked on my 4’10” frame.

4 Summer Tops You Don’t Need to Tuck In

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

Chambray Peplum Top from Nordstrom

The first top is a chambray peplum style from Nordstrom.

I’m wearing the top in XXS and found the fit nearly perfect. The peplum hem creates shape and definition without requiring a tuck, making it especially easy to pair with shorts, jeans, or casual pants.

For this outfit, I styled it with red and white striped boxer shorts from Amazon. The shorts fit me well in XS and are lightweight and comfortable for hot summer days. The combination feels casual and effortless while still looking put together.

Eyelet Top from Target

Next is a feminine eyelet top from Target that works surprisingly well on a petite frame.

One of the features I appreciate most is the adjustable neckline. By tightening the neckline slightly, I was able to shorten the overall fit and create proportions that work much better for my height.

I’m wearing the top in XS and paired it with white denim shorts for a classic summer outfit. The eyelet fabric adds texture and interest while keeping the look light and seasonally appropriate.

Tiered Top from LOFT

If you prefer a relaxed silhouette, this tiered top from LOFT is a great option.

I’m wearing Petite XXS, and even in that size the top runs generously. However, because of the tiered styling, I don’t mind the extra room. You may want to size down, though.

I paired it with linen shorts from Banana Republic Factory. The shorts fit true to size in XXS and feature a flattering 4-inch inseam. They’re unlined but not sheer.

Boho Top from Target

The final top is a bold boho style from Target.

I’m wearing XS, and while it is a little roomy, the relaxed fit works well with the overall aesthetic of the top. The sleeves feature elastic cuffs, making them easy to push up when it’s hot outside, and they stay in place throughout the day.

I paired it with denim shorts from Madewell for an easy casual summer outfit. The volume in the top balances nicely with the slimmer fit of the shorts.
