As we head into May, I’m thinking ahead to all the on-the-go moments this season brings—and finding petite-friendly options that keep up. From end-of-school celebrations and graduations to Memorial Day Weekend hosting and the start of summer activities, it’s a busy time. Between days with my kids, amusement parks, and pool or beach outings, I’m reaching for easy, one-and-done outfits.

That’s where active dresses come in. They’re comfortable, versatile, and easy to throw on and go—perfect for busy days. In today’s post, I’m sharing three petite-friendly active dresses that fit well and work for everything on your calendar.

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

High Neck Active Dress

The color is what first caught my eye—it’s bright and bold. Then there’s the fit. I love the high neckline and the simple, clean skirt. I’m wearing the dress in XS and it fits me well overall. It also has a built-in bra and easy-access shorts (meaning you don’t have to pull down the entire dress to use the restroom), which make it even more practical. Overall, it’s a great petite-friendly option that checks all the boxes.

Pleated Active Dress

This one is my favorite of the three, mainly because it’s the most modest. It has thicker straps and a higher back than the first dress, which means you can easily add a strapless bra for extra support—something I personally prefer. While it does have a built-in bra, it doesn’t offer much lift.

The shorts underneath are easy access, and I love the skirt design—it’s a mix of pleated and clean panels, which adds a little interest without feeling overdone. I’m wearing the dress in XS and find it to fit true to size.

Knit Active Dress

The color, again, is what first caught my eye with this one. I’m wearing it in XS and it fits well overall. The back design also allows you to add a bra if you want a little extra support.

It has comfortable, easy-access shorts and a functional drawstring waist. I did find the torso slightly long on me, so I pulled it up a bit and adjusted it with the drawstring for a better fit.

If you’re heading into a busy season like I am, an active dress is such an easy go-to. Having a few on hand that fit well and can keep up with everything from errands to full days out makes getting dressed simple. All three of these options are comfortable, functional, and petite-friendly—which isn’t always easy to find. Whether you prefer a little more coverage or something sporty and streamlined, these are great pieces to throw on and go all season long.
