I love finding petite dresses that fit well right off the rack, and over the years I’ve had great luck shopping at Quince. Their focus on quality fabrics, timeless styles, and reasonable prices has made them one of my favorite places to look for wardrobe staples. The only thing missing was a dedicated petite dress collection.

That’s why I was so excited to see Quince recently release petite dresses. I ordered all three of their new 100% European linen styles to see how they fit on my 4’10” frame. If you’ve been wondering whether the new petite sizing is truly petite-friendly, here’s how each dress fit, along with my sizing recommendations and overall thoughts.

For reference, I’m 4’10” with measurements of 32-24-36, and I’m wearing my usual petite size throughout.

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

100% European Linen Tiered Maxi Dress (Petite)

The Tiered Maxi Dress didn’t work for me in standard sizing, so I was excited to see if it was offered in petite. In petite, I can comfortably wear it with flat sandals, but it also looks great with a small heel.

The proportions through the shoulders and chest are excellent. The shoulders aren’t overly wide and the sleeves are a nice length. The dress is open at the chest, to the waist, but there is a snap closure that keeps it closed.

The waist is slightly relaxed on me. If you’re between sizes or prefer a more fitted waist, I would consider sizing down. Otherwise, the relaxed fit works well and still gives the dress a flattering shape.

What I Like

  • 100% European linen
  • Fully lined
  • Petite proportions fit well through the shoulders and chest
  • Maxi length works with both flats and heels
  • Comfortable, natural fiber, breathable fabric

Fit Notes for Petites

The length is exactly what I hoped a petite maxi would be. It doesn’t overwhelm my frame or drag on the ground, and I don’t think most petites will need alterations. The only area that felt a bit generous was the waist.

Sizing Recommendation: True to size for a relaxed fit. If you’re between sizes or prefer a more defined waist, consider sizing down.

100% European Linen Mini Dress (Petite)

This is such a great everyday summer dress.

Shift dresses can sometimes feel boxy on petites, but the shorter hemline keeps the proportions balanced. Instead of overwhelming my frame, the mini length makes the silhouette feel intentional and flattering.

One detail I especially appreciate is the fit around the arm openings. There’s no gaping, which is something I often struggle with in sleeveless dresses. It fits cleanly through the shoulders and armholes while still leaving enough room to move comfortably.

The dress is also fully lined, making it easy to wear without worrying about sheerness.

What I Like

  • 100% European linen
  • Fully lined
  • Great fit through the arm openings with no gaping
  • Flattering mini length
  • Easy everyday summer dress

Fit Notes for Petites

This dress fits true to size and feels like it was designed with petite proportions in mind. The shorter length balances the relaxed shift silhouette perfectly.

Sizing Recommendation: True to size.

100% European Linen Fit & Flare Dress (Petite)

If you’re looking for something that’s a little more feminine or slightly dressier, the Fit & Flare Dress is a beautiful option.

I’ve shared this dress in the standard fit and while it fit me overall, I have to wear the straps crossed to shorten it enough.

In petite, the dress is well proportioned, and I can wear the straps as intended. They have three button options to change the length.

The length falls as a true midi dress on my 4’10” frame, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Like the other two dresses, it’s fully lined through both the bodice and the skirt, giving it a substantial, high-quality feel.

Because of the neckline, I found that a strapless bra worked best. A few of my regular bras also worked, although the straps occasionally peeked out depending on how I moved.

What I Like

  • 100% European linen
  • Fully lined throughout
  • Adjustable straps with three button positions
  • Straps are better proportioned for petites
  • True midi length
  • Feminine fit-and-flare silhouette

Fit Notes for Petites

The shorter straps are a noticeable improvement over Quince’s standard dresses.

A strapless bra gives the cleanest look, although some regular bras can work depending on their strap placement.

Sizing Recommendation: True to size.

Final Thoughts

I’m so happy to see Quince finally expanding into petites. The biggest improvement isn’t just the shorter lengths—it’s the overall proportions. The shoulders, straps, arm openings, and bodices all feel much more thoughtfully designed for a petite frame.
