One of my followers recently told me she walks a lot during her commute and throughout her workday, so wearing heels is out of the question. She tasked me with putting together a few work outfit ideas with flats, so that’s just what I’m doing in today’s post!
For these four outfits, I styled two different pairs of flats from Sam Edelman: a pointed-toe flat and a pair of buttery-soft, supportive loafers. I also chose pants with petite-friendly inseams that work well with flats without needing extra height from a heel.

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Outfit 1: Riviera Pants + Taupe Blazer
For the first outfit, I pulled out a blazer I’ve had for years and love that it’s still available. It’s a crepe blazer from Ann Taylor with a soft taupe color and a longer, modern fit. I wear it in Petite 00, and it’s true to size. I typically wear the sleeves cuffed or pushed back a little for balance on my frame.
I especially like wearing a longer blazer when I’m wearing slim pants like the Riviera Pants from LOFT. Being pear-shaped, slim pants tend to highlight my hips (and makes me look short and stocky). I still love to wear them, but I prefer pairing them with something that adds a little balance, and the longer length of this blazer does just that.
The Riviera Pants are a classic slim straight style with a 9″ rise and 24″ inseam in the Petite 00 I’m wearing. I wear the curvy fit because the standard fit is too wide at my waist while also being snug through my hips. The curvy fit solves the waist issue and gives me a better fit through my hips and thighs.
I finished the outfit with the Sam Edelman flats. The 24″ inseam of the pants makes them an easy option to wear with flats.
Fit Details:
- Ann Taylor blazer: Petite 00, true to size
- LOFT Riviera Pants: Petite 00 Curvy

- Inseam: 24″

Outfit 2: Wide-Leg Ponte Pants + Cashmere Sweater
I kept this outfit simple with wide-leg ponte pants and a tucked-in cashmere sweater. I recently rounded up several petite trousers, and all of them happened to be pleated styles. I heard from many of you who were looking for a clean-front option instead, and I think these pants are an excellent choice.
The wide-leg ponte pants from Banana Republic Factory have a 10″ rise and 27.5″ inseam in petite sizing. They’re made from a thick, soft, stretchy ponte fabric that feels comfortable but still looks polished enough for work.
They’re true to size for me, and I especially like the proportions with flats. The 27.5″ inseam gives you a full-length wide-leg look without needing to add a heel.
I paired them with a brushed cashmere sweater from Quince. I’m wearing the sweater in XS, and it fits me well. Tucking the sweater into the high-rise pants keeps the outfit simple and balanced with the wider leg.
Fit Details:
- Banana Republic Factory Wide-Leg Ponte Pants: true to size
- Rise: 10″
- Inseam: 27.5″
- Thick, soft stretch ponte
- Quince brushed cashmere sweater: XS
- Shoes: Sam Edelman pointed-toe flats

Outfit 3: Ann Taylor Eva Pants + Blazer
For another slim-pant option, I’m wearing the Eva Pants from Ann Taylor. They’re similar to the Riviera Pants but have a slightly longer inseam.
The Eva Pants have a 9″ rise and 25″ inseam in petite sizing. They’re true to size for me, and once again, I wear the curvy fit. I find that curvy fits generally work better for my proportions because they give me the room I need through my hips and thighs without leaving a gap at my waist.
I paired the pants with a printed blazer from Ann Taylor. Unfortunately, this exact print is sold out, but you can easily recreate the same outfit formula with a printed, textured, or solid blazer you already own.
The slim ankle-length pants work especially well with the loafers and make this a comfortable option if you’re doing a lot of walking throughout your workday.
Fit Details:
- Ann Taylor Eva Pants: Curvy Petite, true to size
- Rise: 9″
- Inseam: 25″
- Ann Taylor blazer: exact print sold out
- Shoes: Sam Edelman loafers

Outfit 4: Navy Ponte Pants + Cotton Gauze Top
For the last outfit, I went back to the same Banana Republic Factory ponte pants from the second outfit, but this time I’m wearing them in navy.
I paired them with an oversized cotton gauze top from Quince. The soft, relaxed top gives the outfit a different feel from the tucked-in cashmere sweater while still looking polished with the wide-leg pants.
Since the top has more volume, I like the way the pointed-toe flats visually extend the line of the pants without adding any heel height. It’s an easy way to keep a relaxed outfit looking polished while still being comfortable for walking.
The pants have the same 10″ rise and 27.5″ petite inseam as the pair in the second outfit. They’re true to size, soft and stretchy, and the clean front makes them an easy alternative if pleated trousers aren’t your style.
Fit Details:
- Banana Republic Factory Wide-Leg Ponte Pants: true to size
- Rise: 10″
- Inseam: 27.5″
- Quince cotton gauze top: oversized fit
- Shoes: Sam Edelman pointed-toe flats
