The Nordstrom sale was highly anticipated and highly talked about. You had just about every blogger sharing a what to buy guide and then you had the twitter rants about “every blogger buying the same t-shirt.” Let me just go ahead and say, I was one of those bloggers, that bought the same t-shirt. Not ashamed, lol.

I actually saw this Caslon Tee on Living In Yellow, and decided to add it to my cart. Can you tell she influences me to buy a lot. I’ve been on a basics buying spree lately. I’m typically one for a lot of prints and color, but I find that I won’t wear a printed item as much as I will wear a basic item. So, basics have started to dominate.

To me, a basic outfit needs just a few things to be a little less basic. What are those three things, you ask? Cute shoes, a tuck or knot, and fun jewelry.

Three Things Your Basic T-Shirt Style Needs

How To Up Your T-Shirt Style

Cute Shoes

My blogger friends know how to do this well. Any basic is made better with a pair of cute shoes. I’ve mentioned before, in case you’re tired of hearing about it, but I love a dressed up pair of flats! They’re comfortable, but still make me feel fabulous.

Tuck or Knot

However you prefer to tuck your tee, I think every tee needs a little something. My preference is the demi-tuck – just a little tuck in the front. I also love a full tuck with a belt and a cute little knot!

Fun Jewelry

You can go full blown statement necklace, tassel earrings or just a simple necklace; but jewelry always ups the style factor. I have a thing for pendant necklaces, so most days I wear one of those! I also always wear my watch and maybe a few bracelets.

Basic Tee Style, Dress Up a Basic Tee

I wore my tee with a demi-tuck, Kendra Scott pendant and my new favorite, Halogen flats. These photos make my jeans look like they have 90s style high contrast stitching, which really kills me. They don’t! So now, my honest opinion on the t-shirt, every blogger purchased – it’s ok. As far as a basic t-shirt goes, it’s just that, basic. I love the washed colors it comes in and the sweet little pocket. The top also has a nice roomy fit and comes in a wide range of sizes (petites, yay!). The cons – it’s a little too thin for my tastes, so I wore a cami under mine. I was worried about how it would wash because it is so thin, but so far, it washes well! However, I’m not sure I would pay full price for the top, just my honest opinion. It’s very much like a Target t-shirt, you can get for half the price. I did buy the Lush t-shirt that was also a sale favorite. That t-shirt is a little large on me, but I love to wear it around the house, it’s so soft and looks great with leggings!
