The Fourth of July is a fun holiday to dress for. I love incorporating red, white, and blue without feeling overly themed, and finding pieces that work well on a petite frame makes getting dressed even easier. Whether you’re heading to a backyard barbecue, watching fireworks, or spending the day with family, these four outfit ideas are comfortable, festive, and petite-friendly.
For size reference, I’m 4’10” and typically wear a Petite XXS/00.

4 Easy Fourth of July Outfit Ideas for Petites
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
1. Navy Willa Dress
The first outfit features the Willa Dress in a classic navy blue. I’ve reviewed this dress before in the midi length, but this above-the-knee version has quickly become a favorite for summer.
Although it doesn’t come in petite sizing, the standard size 00 fits me very well. The shorter length is ideal for petites and hits comfortably at the knee.
The dress is made from 98% regenagri®-certified cotton/2% elastane, making it lightweight and breathable for hot summer weather. It is unlined, so depending on the color and your preference, you may want to add a slip underneath for additional coverage.

2. Red, White, and Blue Print Willa Dress
For a more festive take on the same silhouette, I styled the Willa Dress in a red, white, and blue print.
Everything I love about the navy version applies here as well. The fit is flattering, easy to wear, and doesn’t overwhelm my petite frame. The patriotic print makes it perfect for Fourth of July celebrations while still feeling polished enough to wear throughout the rest of the summer.
If you love finding one dress style that works and buying it in multiple colors, this is definitely one worth considering.

3. Gingham Midi Dress
Nothing says summer quite like gingham, and this midi dress has become one of my favorite seasonal pieces.
I originally purchased this dress in a different print last year and have continued reaching for it regularly. This year’s version fits a little differently, however. While last year’s dress was true to size, I found this season’s release runs smaller and would recommend sizing up.
The bodice features smocking across the front with a flat back and zip closure, creating a flattering fit without adding bulk. The skirt is full and fully lined, giving it beautiful movement while still feeling comfortable and easy to wear.
To make the outfit feel a little more festive for the holiday, I added a red beaded necklace for a pop of color.

4. Cotton Sleeveless Top and Poplin Midi Skirt
For a casual and classic Fourth of July look, I paired a cotton sleeveless top with a cotton poplin midi skirt.
This outfit feels timeless and versatile while still fitting the holiday theme. The skirt is available in petite sizing, where it hits as a true midi length. If you’re looking for a little extra length, the standard sizing also works well on a petite frame.
The skirt is unlined and slightly sheer, so I would recommend adding a slip underneath. Otherwise, the fit is comfortable and easy to wear, with the added bonus of functional pockets.
