Investing in wardrobe staples you can wear year-round is always a smart choice. In today’s post, I’m sharing a sleeveless dress and showing how I layer it to make it work across all seasons.

4 Ways to Layer a Dress for All Seasons

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

WHBM Sleevless Button Front Midi Dress

I chose a sleeveless dress in a neutral color that works well year-round. This button-front dress is fully lined, made from a lightly stretchy fabric, and features functional buttons all the way down. I sized up to Petite 0 here, but Petite 00 — my true size — would be a better overall fit, so I recommend going true to size.

Winter

I think a turtleneck looks great under a sleeveless dress in the winter. To balance the black I added black tights and heels and topped it with a black coat for outdoors.

Spring

For the transitional weather of spring, I think a white button-down looks lovely under the dress. For warmth, a light trench coat is all you need.

Summer

Summer is perfect for letting the dress shine on its own. I didn’t add any layers here, just paired the dress with neutral pumps.

Fall

Fall is typically warm where I live, so I added a blazer and kept the pumps. If you need warmth on your legs, I would add tights!

This dress is a warm sweater knit. It runs a little bit small and short in petite. I recommend sizing up or choosing standard sizing for extra length.
